some of them i dont’ agree with but that’s just my opinion anyway here is my top 20 game show hosts

20- Jim Lange- really enjoy Name That Tune, Bullseye and $1,000,000 Chance of a lifetime a game show I’d love see getting a revivial in primetime.

    19) Maury Povich- why this guy I think he did a great job on the NBC game show Twenty One just upset it was against Who Wants To Be a Millionaire.

    18) Bob Saget- I think this guy is doing a great job on 1 vs 100 and is a very funny comic.

    17) Gene Rayburn- thought he did good on the match game

    16) Ross Shafer- I may be a loner here on this but i enjoyed Ross Shafer more on match game than Gene and i liked the match up segment but I think to me that Ross wasn’t trying so hard to be funny.

15 ) Meredith Viera- think she does a great job on Millionaire and would love to see her host more gameshows in the future.

    14) Allen Ludden- think he did a great job on Password and Password Plus

    13) Tom Kennedy- think he did a great job on the night time price is right, password plus when he took over after Luddin, Break The Bank, Body Language

    12) Tom Bergeron- thought he did great on Hollywood Squares and thinks he does great on AFV.

    11) Pat Sajak- excellent job on Wheel Of Fortune

    10) Wink Martindale- great on Tic Tac dough and also on High Rollers, Jumble, Trivial Pursuit

    9) Bert Convy- Super Password my favorite show of his but also enjoyed him on Win Lose or Draw and Tattletales.

    8) Peter Tomarken- big bucks no whammies host and did a great job on press your luck and wipeout a game I would love to see get a revival.

    7) Chuck Woolery- great job on Lingo my second favorite show behind Deal Or No Deal and also be back in 2 and 2. great job on Scrabble and Greed another show that deserves a revival.

    6) Bob eubanks- newlywed game, card sharks and trivia trap my three favs of his hosting

    5) Alex Trebek- great job on Jeopardy and classic concentration plus can’t forget the early 90′s revival of To Tell The Truth

    4) Jim Perry- Card Sharks one of my favorite shows my sixth favorite gameshow behind DOND, Lingo, 1 vs 100, Press Your Luck and Talkabout.

    3) Bill Cullen- this guy I think is a great game show host i remember him for Hot Potato, Chain Reaction, Blockbusters and Pass The Buck

    2) Howie Mandel – why I have him so high the first week of DOND i was so impressed with his hosting style and think he has gotten much better each night that DOND is on.

    1) Bob Barker- even though it’s not my number one game show he is my number one host because he’s been hosting for 35 years and has done a great job at hosting this . i hope he passes down the torch to Todd Newton, Marc Summers , Doug Davidson or John O Hurley.

others worth mentioning but not in my top 20

Mark L. Walberg- great job on Russian Roulette and The Big Date a show i wish GSN would pick up.

Donny Osmond- great job on revival on Pyramid even though the gameplay wasn’t as good

Dick Clark- great job on the pyramid (10,20,25,50 and 100 thousand dollar Pyramids) also The Challengers another show i wish GSN would pick up.

No bill cullen is the real big sin here…Actually will make a case for Adamle since AG was a game show in essence and during its glory seasons with Zonka (before it turned 1/2 WWF on us) it was awesome and adamle even carried crappy cohosts quite well.

Cooper was devine as a host so Ill give them that if they are counting reality (but probst is way overrated. Mark L Walberg did a better job on the POS called temptation island)

NO CLUE why carson is on here…if you wanted an obscure GS name who went onto bigger things and bigger celebrity use Hugh Downs!

    Tom Kennedy somewhere please.

Can deal with Philbin and Groucho is WAY underrated for YBYL…there was a REASON nether seasoned comics Buddy Hackett or Bill Cosby could pull that game off at all.

  • Wheelloon says:

IMHO, Stein shouldn’t be on there, Regis is WAAAY too high, Probst shouldn’t be on there for Survivor (same with Cooper, even though I loved his hosting job and THE ORIGINAL “Mole”).

I don’t think is Carson is established enough in GS world to be on such a list, Adamle is appropriate (I’m in agreement with everyone else here on him and AG), and I’m happy to see Summers on a GS list for once, but where the heck are Betty White, Tom Kennedy, Jack Narz, Bill Cullen, Hugh Downs and Bert Convy!? :(

  • Bob says:

I see a couple of names that deserve to be on the Top 20 List. Jack Barry for one His name may have been tainted by the game show scandles of the 1950′s but there was not a better host for The Jokers Wild than the man who created it. Lets not forget Dennis James. He game show career started when television was in its infancy. He was a true pioneer in the business as a host & producer. He wasent as spontaneous as Bill Cullen (who should be ranked #1), but he made you feel comfortable, like watching an old friend. I will never forget his classy send off on the syndicated night time version of The Price Is Right: “Dont miss us next week, because if you do, we’ll sure miss you.”

  • Intelligentfan777 says:

WTF?! No Bill Cullen! You CREATONS! YOU FOOLS! YOU *EVERY INSULTING WORD IN THE BOOK!*

You get the idea. For God’s sake, even GSN did a better job with this than WNBC. Who put them up to this, tell me now so I can beat the senseless crap out of him (or her if need be, hey, I’m equal opportunity all the way!)

  • Measles! says:

These guys are out of their mind. Adamle? Philbin that high? Tomarken that low? That’s a terrible job. WNBC is full of idiots…*wait for it*

WHAT THE F*** ARE THESE PEOPLE SMOKING ? :P

  • Jared Oswald says:

    What NO BILL CULLEN?

    El Dissapointo!!

  • BJ Wanlund says:

F**K YOU, WNBC! Come on, whoever threw the darts, get out here so we can beat you senseless! WTF is Jeff Probst doing on that list? WTF is up with no Cullen, Kennedy, Narz, or White? I think that they need to retract that article.

    BJ

  • TPIR5665 says:

NO BILL CULLEN?!!! After all his years at NBC and it radio sister station WNBC-AM? What are you guys at WNBC smoking? Bob Barker couldn’t even have survived Bill’s original version of “The Price is Right.” Barker has to be the STAR and lets everyone know it, while Bill was always just the regular guy inviting everyonee to join party. And that version of “Price” really was a party, a simple game format with many occasionally ridiculous prizes and bonuses. Every game he hosted, whether it be a long or short run, from the energy of New York or the dullness of Los Angeles, always had fun and class because of Bill Cullen. Sample quip from “The Price is Right”: An elephant takes a dump on stage. CULLEN: “And next week, we have the Democrats’ rebuttle!”
