“Wipeout” Gains truTV Reruns; Loses Jill Wagner

There’s been a lot of Wipeout news recently, coinciding the special Name the Stunt competition going on.  Even more updates are going through the news cycle.  First of all, fans of the show are getting even more chances to watch.  The show is being syndicated to cable.  truTV has acquired the rights to the show.  Reruns will begin Fall 2011.  Wipeout has been on the air for four seasons and over 50 episodes. “Wipeout is the kind of fun, action-packed series that will resonate strongly with our network’s core audience of young adult viewers,” said Marc Juris, executive vice president and general manager of truTV. “We’re extremely excited to add the show to our lineup.”

Second, Wipeout will be losing a host.  Popular sideline reporter/insult comic Jill Wagner will be leaving the show after this summer’s season.  Wagner is leaving to concentrate on her acting career.  Endemol producers are searching for a new host to join returning John Anderson and John Henson.  Wagner told TV Guide Magazine, “After four seasons of co-hosting Wipeout I have been given the opportunity to pursue new directions in my acting career, which I am very passionate about. I am extremely grateful to all those at Wipeout, Endemol and ABC, who have been so supportive of me through these years.”

I’m going to miss Jill. Every now and then she’d get in a really cutting remark. Why get a new host, though? Just use John and John more.

  • J.C, says:

Hmm…I wonder who could replace her though. Brooke Burns maybe? Or, while talking of Brookes, Tom Bergeron currently pulls double duty for ABC (AFV/DWTS), maybe his co-host Brooke Burke could step in and do the same with Wipeout. Or, and I know this is a very off the wall suggestion, but Kari Byron (Mythbusters/Head Rush) seems like she would have the right kind of personality for Wipeout.

  • Scott says:

I wonder if Wipeout will ever be the same without Jill…

  • Marc Power says:

Will definitely miss Jill she was half the reason I watched the show.

I’ll throw a name in there for a replacement how about Lisa Dergan? some of you may remember her as the late Ken Ober’s co-host on Smush. she was also a sideline reporter for GSN’s Poker Royale and a former playboy playmate. Plus she’s an experienced sports reporter so she’d be a good fit for the show IMO.
