Posted by Alex Davis as NBC, Whose Line is it Anyway?
This could be interesting. The gigantic smash and cult hit “Whose Line is it Anyway” has found its way onto NBC’s new online broadband comedy network “DotComedy”. “Whose Line is it Anyway?” was made for ABC by Warner Brothers, and ABC still retains some rights with new episodes airing sporadically on ABC Family. This creates an interesting situation, actually. This would have to mean that NBC has SOME rights to “Whose Line is it Anyway?”. I’m probably over analyzing this, but I’m wondering if NBC is considering a revival of “Whose Line is it Anyway?” to fit their new 8PM-9PM non-scripted block of shows. “Whose Line is it Anyway” is extremely cheap to produce, and Drew Carey has said they can whip out six episodes in three to four episodes. Remember, “Whose Line” is on DVD now too, and sources from LA have told us that they were in a line for a half-hour to pick up copies of it. “Whose Line is it Anyway?” airs Mondays through Thursdays at 10PM ET to 11PM ET and on Fridays from 8PM ET to 11PM ET on ABC Family.

I could live with this show being on in prime time again. this show is great and funny as long as they use Brad Sherwood/ Wayne Brady/ Colin mochrie (can’t spell his last name) and Ryan Stiles. Greg Proops coming in for either Brad Sherwood or Wayne Brady but also maybe even add some other good improve comics too. i hope more seasons of this show will come out on DVD too. anyway I would be up for a revival of this on NBC. its a great show and its very funny and what better way than to sit down and laugh with your family although some jokes on the show could be considering offensive but its a great show.

I’m thinking you meant “six episodes in three to four days,” and you’re probably right. I mean, give them a week and you probably have enough fodder for 3 months.

I still prefer that in the UK original, they weren’t quite so dependant on a small number of people, the people they rotated were always awesome, i’d like to see something like that if the show came back to TV here. Obviously Ryan and Colin were always there, so they’d probably have to stay or find people that had that level of commeraderie to match those two. I’m also not entirely sure Colin Mochrie can do the show right now since he’s still doing “This Hour Has 22 Minutes” here in Canada every week, and while some of the others can be replaced every so often (not Ryan Stiles, obviously but…yea) not Colin. I think he’s too essential to the show, really.
