Bob Barker, who received what are most likely the last two Daytime Emmys of his career last night, is backing none other than Rosie “Rowdy on The View” O’Donnell, who has hosted neither a TPiR Live show or a run-through session at Studio 33. “There’s no doubt in my mind she could do the show,” says Barker. “She told me she loved The Price Is Right and wanted to host it one day.” I’d like to see her at least try, and hear what the fans think about her afterwards.

She could have done it years ago back during her Rosie O’ Donnell show era. But She’s changed. and IMO she’s just not funny anymore. But if Bob’s backing her. I think we oughta cue up the death march for TPIR. :(

I thought Rosie was out of the running, according to Bob himself.

Pure bullshit. Bob is nuts, and I don’t mean that in a good way. If she does become the host of TPiR, I can just see that hardly anyone will be watching it anymore.

Like I said before, Bob is out of his mind. I hate to say this about a man I admire, but he might finally be going senile. If she becomes host and does a lousy job, I may never watch again.
Rosie + TPIR = Doom

totally agree with Marc. The timing for Rosie to enter TPIR is totally off, if only the The View had not occured, maybe things would be different.

I agree back years ago during her talkshow and even back in the early 90’s I think it would have been cool to see Rosie host even just for a day TPIR but now I wouldn’t want to see it. If Bob wanted a woman to host TPIR I would choose Meredith Viera. I ‘ve heard about some of the things that Rosie wants to do to TPIR which also makes me say no. I still think that Todd Newton, John O Hurley, Doug Davidson and Mark Summers for TPIR

You hear that? That’s the sound of TPIR crashing to earth if Rosie gets the keys.

No matter who becomes the host, someone else has to be the producer. Someone who will keep the show exactly the same.

Well Roger Dobkowitz is staying as Executive producer.
And I think Rosie must have served Bob 3 to many drinks last night.
He has really now just lost his mind. I just can’t see her doing the show.
Male models and on her blog she said she wanted Ross The Intern to be
the announcer. God help us all. Could you imagine. “Alright Steve Come on Down, Oh my
Gosh you are going to win on TPIR”.

Would someone please shoot me? WHAT THE HELL IS CBS and FREMANTLEMEDIA drinking? This has to be the biggest joke heard around the world. If this happens, Bob Barker’s image and legacy is going to be tarnished in ways he wished it never had. HE HAS LOST HIS SANITY!!!

I have 10 comments before me that put things rather well, so I need not say any more…
*Sobs* Poor TPIR, it didn’t need to happen like this. OH WHAT A TANGLED WEB WE WEAVE… :’(

Are there any other versions of ‘Price’ from around the world where the host was a woman? NONE!!! It’s always been a man as the host, and the women are the models. Rosie would want male models instead of female models if she were the host. Rich Fields would not get along with Rosie so that’s why she wants Ross Matthews (and I not going to call him by his nickname “The Intern” anymore) to be the announcer if she were the host. What if Rosie’s friend Caroline Rhea who left “The Biggest Loser” just to get a tryout to be Barker’s successor? Rosie wouldn’t like that, but more people would prefer Caroline Rhea over Rosie if the host was going to be a woman.

How do you know Rosie would want male models and that Ross the Intern would announce? I don’t see anything on Rosie’s page about that. If you have proof, I’d like to see it. Otherwise, please don’t start baseless rumors. If you do show proof, I humbly apologize. I saw nothing on Rosie’s page about TPiR.
I agree that Rosie would be a horrible choice to host. Andy, come join us in the 21st century, where women have opportunities to emcee shows. Your thoughtless comments as of late are unnecessary.

I like Rosie, but I don’t feel TPIR is right for her to do full time. A lot of people watched the TPIR this last season because they could not stand her on the VIEW. I feel why this could be a big at first, things will slowly unravel. If Rosie becomes the “mastress of ceremonies” than I rather TPIR just end. It can always come back in a few years when you know you is hopefully no longer working for you know who. DAMN YOU ABC, REALEASE TOM!

This is incorrect.
- The Italian version - OK, Il Prezzo e Giusto! - has been hosted by several women.
- The UK version of Price has used male models - not exclusively, but they have used them.
On a side note, a close relative of mine remarked that Tom Bergeron would be a good host for the show, so…

I’m rooting for Mark Steines or Todd Newton. Mark would be a great host as would Todd Newton but they most likely not get the gig. But you never know. I still love Bob Barker and TPIR to bits and I always will.

i woudnt be surprized if Rosie trys to buy the show from fremantle. Rosie wants to make too much changes and if she don’t get her ways she wants to bail out. I dont mind a women host i liked the way Ricki Lake did Tpir it stuck to the format. Like i said i don’t mind set changes and a few prop changes but Rosie wants to do major changing get rid of the female models. Get rid of some pricing games. and im sure she would want to get rid of rich. Im fine with gays as a matter of fact im gay but i just dont want her to turn it in to a gay show. And i heard Ross the Intern would be the announcer i really hope shes lying
I throught Bob wanted Rich to host the show?

Bob, we all love you, but give us a break!
You know how we’ve all been agitated about the fact that Bob himself doesn’t actually have a say as to who will be his successor to TPIR…..

Every one of you who is bitching about Rosie, leave it to rest, ok? You havn’t given it a chance yet. At least she won’t be feuding with other people like on “The View”. So you never know could happen. She could turn out to be very good.

The yodeler from the cliffhanger game will boycott the show if that beast gets the thin microphone. She is NOT entertaining and quite frankly, NOT television “face friendly”.

IF..and its a HUUUUUUUGGGEEE IF, Rosie (Or Rozilla as I call her) gets to be host, I guarentee you that CBS Stations in the Bible belt and VERY ULTRA conservative cities will pull the show off their airwaves faster than you can say “ROSIE..LOOK, AN ALL YOU CAN EAT BUFFET!”
Rosie would be a BIG mistake, no..check that, A MASSIVE MISTAKE !
How about Rich Fields as Host?, or maybe Bob Eubanks, Tom Bergeron a cinch!

I really do like Rosie and I feel that whatever happened on The View was a big misunderstanding, but it went too far. As far as Rosie hosting, why don’t they do a test taping, like they did a few months ago with other ‘would be’ hosts. Everyone has their opinion of Rosie, but damn, let her try a test taping and take a poll of the audience. I’m with the one person who said that Rosie wants to change the models to all male and this new host that she wants to announce, it may be Bob’s baby, but I doubt that they’ll change all of that because of Rosie. TPIR has been the way it’s been for 35 years, why change now? Why screw up a good thing?
Give Rosie a chance, and do a test taping… what do they have to lose? Hence, “don’t knock it until you try it.”

Free Tom Bergeron !!! The one and only perfect choice from the massive field out there.
Rosie missed her day years ago. Her career is in a different direction now. She is no longer the Queen of Nice !

CBS/Fremantle: Just put all of the TPIR audition tapes on the CBS website and let the fans see what’s taking so long to come to a decision. I don’t think fans should have the “final” say, but we should have a voice.

I don’t know if you all have heard this but I was watching the news this morning and the entertainment reporter mentioned that Ryan Seacrest is a possibility.
I’m sorry but that just scares the BLANK out of me. If he winds up hosting it, we KNOW that Price is doomed. I would preffer Rosie over Ryan anyday of the week.
Doug Morris
37June 18th, 2007 at 2:14 pm
Echoing the first sentiment, if her “queen of nice talk show” were still on and she were still hosting it, I could see Rosie hosting TPiR. But not after her tumultuous year on “The View”.
If indeed Rosie gets the nod, the last one out of the Bob Barker Studio should turn out the lights.
Andy
38June 18th, 2007 at 8:38 pm
Ryan Seacrest, Todd Newton, and who knows maybe Joel McHale could be a possible host. All three work for E!, and anyone of these three would do better than Rosie. Another long-shot possible host is Donald Trump. It would add on more to the Rosie-Donald feud. Donald would say something like “The people at CBS and Freemantle don’t want Rosie as the host! They want me to be Bob Barker’s successor!” The Donald as the new ‘Price’ host could work out. He can get along with Les Moonves and Rich Fields something that Rosie is not willing to do. Also, NBC didn’t renew “The Apprentice” so CBS could renew it.

Bergeron? Yeah, that’s what we need. A person with all the personality of a garden slug hosting the show. “I’m sorry Joe. You went over and now you’re getting kicked in the nuts!”
Rosie? I got six words for Bobbo — “Surgeon General’s Warning: QUIT SMOKING WEED!”
There are only a few people worthy to succeed Mr. Barker, and we knew this day was coming.

Not saying she couldn’t do the show, but Rosie… She’s a bid short of the actual retail price if you get my drift..

Ian Ziering from ‘90210′ and his ex-wife was a ‘Price’ model (or former Barker’s Beauty) recently had an audition. He’s not my top choice, but he would do better than Rosie. “Variety” said that Rosie will not leave the East Coast. That’s more positive news that Rosie will not be Barker’s successor.

Never mind about Rosie. Never mind Barker “endorsing” her. (I think it was more opinion than anything.) In a recent newspaper blurb, Barker was quoted as saying his “ideal” host for TPIR would be (in fact, someone who is even OLDER than him- not to mention someone who is arguably a bit more iconic) Art Linkletter. But, Bob-O also mused that the man who proved time and time again, “kids say the darndest things” wouldn’t last a week (Mr. LInkletter is well into his 90’s, and the show supposedly going back two “two-a-days” when it resumes taping later this summer). But, you can’t deny, that if you are old enough to remember “House Party” or the originial “People Are Funny,” Art Linkletter would’ve been a “hand-in-glove” fit. If you’re too young to remember him, or his shows, then you’ll just have to take my word for it.

Art was a great emcee in general. I only remember him from those old craftmatic bed commercials, old clips of “Kids say”, and the play money from the LIFE board game. I think he would’ve been a shoe in for any gameshow.

Is this a reverse Joker’s Wild situation? Where the host is endorsing someone incompitent and the backstage guys are pushing a qualified host…
Now not saying bill cullen was as bad (although clearly past his prime and not fit for that type of show) as O’Donnell (agree, if she was still the queen of nice instead of the breaking “dam” character she’s become it would be better) would be if she hosted the show. I don’t know what bob sees in her. She is way slow paced and dont get me started on her antics. If he wanted to make a statement by having a woman and/or minority take over I can think of 7 people better suited than Rosie to do so. Also I think Rosie would 1. Try to change the show too much which would be fatal (see, 1994 syndie version) 2. try to add her own excitement to a show that creates its own excitement (See any UK TPIR version to know why that doesnt work!) 3. Make the show “hers” (the beauty of TPIR is it ISN’T the host’s it’s the game’s because of the grand variety of the show. James’ syndie run was strong and kennedy’s was better than people remember. Davidson’s tampered with the format too much.) 4. Be short fused with dumb/slow contestants (this plagued bob for the last 5 years as he got downright cantankerous…but this cant happen with a brand new host and I dont think Rosie has the paitence.
I’m sorry but bob really must be going senile if this is true.

Art Linkletter? He’s even older than Bob! They’d have to find a new host within months!
