Who Dares Wins: Agony and Ecstasy

Whilst the UK viewing public was watching the final of Britain’s Got Talent last night (which produced a shock result). Last night’s edition of Who Dares Wins produced a very tense and extraordinary show. The current champions, Nat and Euan have won their sixth match (first match of last night) but failed to bank anything on the money list but their combined winnings from their previous five wins currently stands at £105,000. They face a seventh pair of challengers but they already won the first list by naming eleven characters from the TV show Friends. What you will see next is something rarely done on the show. Possibly, the first time it has been performed on the UK version. Check out the clip below before scrolling down to see the comments.

It is very uncommon for a single person to attempt a list on their own. Other shows had seen one person dominating against their partner but the partner would chip in with the odd answer. It is also very rare to see someone lose the list on the final answer. Same applies for someone giving an unlisted name as the first answer on the sudden death list. Nat & Euan’s £50,000 win has now pushed them to second in the all time money winners list on Who Dares Wins. Only series one (2007) champions, Trish and Shamus have won the most money with £170,000 but they beat eight sets of opponents. Next Saturday will see Nat & Euan attempt to match the all time record for the number of wins. If they beat both pairs of challengers then they will become the first pair to win nine matches. Viewers in the UK can see if they will join the elite (or not) on Saturday 11th June at 8.20pm on BBC One and BBC One HD.

In other news, 12Yard’s/Nick Knowles’s true or false quiz, Perfection has been recomissioned for a second series for BBC Two. Auditions will take place in June and July with a potential transmission in the autumn.

  • That was a great win, I just don’t understand why GSN cancled our version after a few months on the air. Personally this was a great and intelligent quiz show in which I would have totally kicked butt on.

Too bad the folks at GSN didn’t have the same setiments that I have for the show. So please GSN, bring this show back!!!!!!!

  • Nat says:

Hi – I’m the same Nat in the clip! Haven’t got anything much to add though. Trivia: In the next episode, I had run out of game show clothes (did not expect to be on this long) and had to wear the cardi I’d been wearing in the green room for the past three days. Grimy.

  • Tony DuMont says:

I agree, this show deserves US success, possibly as a weekday show, and they could straddle games so that if they finish one game early, they could start the next game. Maybe if they included a base sum of money for winning the game, such as $1000, with values for the list of $1K, 2K, $4K, 8K, and a top prize of $20K, like a Barry & Enright show.

  • Anderson DelValle says:

It’d be nice to have this show back in the U.S.! The fact that it’s already been shown and cancelled twice (The Rich List on Fox after just 1 episode and The Money List on GSN after a 9 episode season) means that we’re probably out of luck.

That said, 12 Yard, and not GSN, I’m looking at you!

    • Scott says:

      Big Saturday Night, eh?

GSN cancelled 20Q and The Money List. And after only a few weeks, Big Saturday Night went from being LIVE to just a taped recording. Go figure.

      • Adam says:

Do you know why Money List and 20Q failed on GSN? B/C GSN at the time, SUmmer 2009, was as arrogant as they are today. I hope the Rich List gets revived yet again, AND I hope NBC picks up the 3rd gen revival b/c this can get NBC out of the hole they’ve been stuck in since circa 2008. IMO, the Execs that have had access to both US versions of Rich List are the most greedy, selfish, and arrogant, and have no business sense.

  • Marc Power says:

I do remember contestant Jeffry tried to do a whole list by himself on the US version of the Rich List. and he had a tough list “countires with spanish as an official language” he was 2 away and blew it but had actually overbid so he was only 1 away.

  • Euan says:

And I’m the Euan! Thanks for the blog, think it was a great show on Saturday. I’m getting dog’s abuse from all sides about Argentina/Kenya. It’s amazing when you look back and go “how on earth did I miss that?!”

In the same vein as Nat, I’d also ran out of clothes. Last week I had to wear the wardrobe man’s shirt. I liked it so much I should have stolen it…

  • Feh. This show bores the crap out of me with the repetitiveness.

The same camera fly-by at each money level is almost laughable.

  • The Banker's Nephew says:

I love the show, but I find it a bit ridiculous how they only seem to have 3-4 light patterns, and about 5 pieces of music.
