Weekend Replay: The Price Is Fooled 2011

The Price is Right did its annual April Fools episode again, and I would feel like a fool if I didn’t post a few clips from it.

Much better than the 04/01/10 episode — the one where every contestant’s name became Pat and old geezers replaced the models.

Loved the *intentional* crashing into Door 3 for Lucky 7 — as opposed to the two previous *accidents*.

  • Wayne says:

is there anywhere to see the entire episode–i forgot to dvr it.

  • DJ says:

This episode was so entertaining and funny that the group of anal-retentives over at Golden Road have been complaining about it nonstop! (This is the group who cannot forgive TPIR for not being 1981 anymore, and just can’t handle it.) Though I am impressed in that some liked it…that says a lot for that gang.

I just wonder to what extent the audience knew what was going on…if they were in on the joke at the beginning of the taping.

The black-out Showcase, the Double Prices gag, the Lucky Seven disaster…all reminders of what TPIR is and should be…a fun show based on awarding cash and prizes, and a place for advertisers to plug their products.

  • Mark says:

I’m not one of the “anal-retentives”, but I am a huge fan of the show. My reaction to the April Fools’ 2011 show is mixed. Overall, I enjoyed the concept, but I thought it was just a little too over-the-top and the it got old for me rather quickly.

I’ll admit that there were good parts to the show that I enjoyed, but I also got the feeling that words “Oh, and what about if we also do ________?” came up a lot during the pre-show planning meetings.

My favorite is still the April Fools 2009 show…

    Just my 2-cents…

  • HomerJay says:

But…but….but….they destroyed the sacred set, or some such tripe someone on GR complained about. Seriously.

  • GD says:

i was hoping theyd do another Floor Clock Showcase :D

  • DJ says:

There were at least two spots on the show where I had the feeling they were taking indirect aim at the people at golden-road…

    • Bob L says:

Do you care to name those spots? Not that I feel you are wrong, but it seems a bit smug to say that and not name the spots.

  • Nikolai says:

There were some things that were okay about the show, but I think they tried a bit too hard.

  • Chris Parsley says:

It could of been like the first IUFB, It’s a brand New Golden Road and Buzzerblog (the models wave their hands, the Golden Road falls behind and crashes, ah well, not a big loss, a new Buzzerblog…. :)

For those not getting the point, the TV/Xbox first pricing item is where Im drawing the reference for this :)

I found this entire episode…HILARIOUS!!! Drew Carey is a genius, when it comes to April Fool’s Day. This is reminiscent of his old ‘What’s Wrong With This Episode’ shows (from his ABC sitcom). It’s all random, but all in fun. It’s amazing how the production staff was given free reign to destroy some of the props. I was ROFLMAO when the model flung the marshmallow and ‘accidentally’ set the backdrops ‘on fire’. It was priceless when the stagehands were attempting to put out the ‘fire’, while the showcase was still being presented.

  • Tony DuMont says:

I think the 10,000th they were aiming for was the 10,000th overbid.

    • Tony DuMont says:

What about the 10,000th? The next episode had a double overbid, and nothing was mentioned about it, so it can’t be 10,000 overbids.

  • Matt says:

Rachel said she was sorry for crashing into the doors. That will come out her pay now and will have to pay for all the damages. I wonder if TPiR will suspend her or even fire her for that incident.

I hope that Amber, Gwendolyn and Maneula don’t do anything like that or they might did something wrong on that episode too.

    • X says:

I’m sure that Rachel crashing into the doors was pre-planned. Nothing to worry about.

    • Steve says:

Quite intentional. There’s a clip from 2004 on both the show’s website and YT of her doing the same thing. The first time was an accident. This was planned.

    • Reezy says:

Ok, for a bunch of fans of game shows, it seems as if many of us just put our two cents out there, but many dont go to the show’s actual website. If you were a fan of the show no matter what era, you would’ve taken youself to their website and found out that Gwendolyn (our English Flower) produced the CRASHING Segment.

Now whether you’re a G-R.net fan a BuzzerBlog fan or simply a FAN in general, give the people credit. The true essence of the show has never left. Some of us fans are truly nit-picking at parts of the show which have become filler for the extra time they have in between games.

The show must be doing something right to a degree, cause their ratings have been up. Still hasn’t faltered, Is still the standard for Daytime Game shows, and MOST IMPORTANTLY… we are all here talking about it.

Until they decide to stop doing pricing games, and bidding and become TPIR 94 again, enjoy the show.

  • Pete says:

    I even liked TPIR94!!

  • George S. says:

I agree with what many of you have said. Some people are taking this way too seriously. I honestly couldn’t stop laughing through the entire show. Especially when the TV was destroyed. I was watching the episode at like 3am I was laughing so hard I’m surprised I didn’t wake my roommate. Then when Rachel slammed into the doors, that killed me. She didn’t just bump the set she plowed through it. They totally played that up because of her accident years ago. The won’t ever let her live that one down. I think this is one of the best April Fools’ Day episodes of any game show ever.
