Weekend Replay: Play It Back; 70s

For the next few weekend replays, we’ll be matching GSN’s Play it Back decades marathon.  If you’re watching today you’ll be seeing some 70s shows like Dating Game, Match Game, and Let’s Make A Deal.  I have to stick with my favorite game show, Match Game, for today’s clip.  Here’s probably the most infamous wrong answer in the history of the show, which also is my favorite moment.

Of course if you’re not watching today, you’re watching some pretty good football games.  My Steelers absolutely crushed Houston, didn’t they?

Yeah, not as awesome as how my Eagles crushed the Rams harder than the Steelers could ever crush the baby Texans. :-D

  • Todd says:

    Amen Cory! ;)

The Eagles have a scary team this year.

    I thought it was disappointing.
Lousy host, poor choices, and lackluster players.
Whoever’s in charge of the organization should be shot.
(And that ’70s game show special was a real letdown- I’m talking about the Washington Redskins.)

All joking aside, Caroline Rhea was a terrible choice for hostess of Play It Back 70′s- her timing was off-key, the choices for celebrity input lacked depth (aside from Bob Goen, Bob Eubanks, Bil Dwyer and Brad Sherwood), and the clips have been shown many times elsewhere. Whoever was in charge of putting together this pathetic excuse for a special should be taken out back and beaten with a sack full of “Temptation USA” tapes (the same deal applies to the head of the Redskins’ operations, Vinny Cerrato).

Seriously- they couldn’t get any rare footage? They couldn’t get the hosts themselves (Eubanks aside) to talk about their outttakes?! They had to make due with overplayed footage and pop culture comedians?!? Tell the media group that put together this piece of garbage that if they don’t pull their act together for the 80′s edition, they’re going to be replaced by some 15-year-old Youtube user who makes DBZ music videos using songs from Linkin Park- and it’ll still be better than whatever it was they crapped out!

I Rather Root for the New England Patriots unfortunantly Tom Brady is out.

    Forgive me Alex.

I loved the special!! I grew up in the 1980′s so I can’t wait for this weekend. I think Caroline as an interesting host…personally, I like how GSN brings in oiutside comedians..it adds some flavor the specials instead of just somep predicatble host doing it. Either way,, it’s great to see these clips again!

I’m tired of what I call the “I mock the ’80s” shows where people who weren’t there and only remember things from seeing them in reruns after school tell you how stoopid the shows were.

And if I never see Michael Musto do his warmed-over bitchy-Rex-Reed imitation again — I’m okay with that.
