Before even taping episodes, ABC has announced the debut date of their new trivia/bluffing/strategy game Duel. The show will be seen as a week long event, much like ABC originally did Who Wants to be a Millionaire?, from December 17th through the 23rd at 8PM ET. There is no word of a host yet. If you want to get a brief idea of some game play, just imagine trivia mixed in with the tense betting of poker. Sources are telling us it’s a very interesting and fantastic game as done in run-throughs, but it might be difficult to get the internal thinking of players, much like in poker.
Also, one of our personal favorite hosts, Mark Walberg, and his new vehicle The Moment of Truth will be seen on January 23rd at 9PM ET. We are still waiting on an air date for everything else, though. The only shows that have completely taped by this point are Do You Trust Me? for CBS, Wanna Bet? for ABC, and 1 VS 100 for NBC which is shocking to find still missing from the schedule after the failure of shows like Phenomenon. Unless something freakish happens I wouldn’t expect to see the eight remaining episodes of the popular quizzer until sometime in 2008.

It makes total sense for NBC to wait on 1 vs 100 due to the strike. Most networks will be fine until the New Year anyway.
Btw, is it just me or would Mark Walberg be PERFECT for Duel? It has a Russian Roulette feel to it and RR was among my favorite shows of all time.

Your not going to have any of the networks PULLING anything at the moment due to the strike. They’ll let em limp on, regardless, as they are counting eps to the T to have something on air if this goes full season that makes of the execs ARE EXPECTING

I hope this show will become a hit if i end up liking it. i don’t watch many programs on ABC so i hope this will be one program i will definity enjoy since i love gameshows. Mark L. Walberg i agree with LaJuan would be perfect for Duel. Hope also if i like this they will come out with a DVD game and PC Game

Whether Mark Walberg hosts the show or not (personally, I can’t imagine anyone else), I am seriously interested in whoever they will choose as the show’s host. Even if a show’s concept and playout is intriguing enough, the host can help in a show’s success or failure depending on how they helm the show itself.

Duel could be the next great Primetime Show if it’s done properly and with the right host. I hope they at least get someone with real TV hosting (if not game show hosting) experience. I’m looking forward to it.
Also, I’m still holding out hope that the writers strike gets resolved soon. It could, but it seems to be really up in the air right now.

actually let em strike… If they resolve soon, we get more of Chuck and shows you’d love to see leave, instead of gameshows :)

Mike Greenberg of ESPN has said on the Mike & Mike radio show that he will be the host. (a newspaper article backed this up)

Too bad this isn’t replacing the week long Nat’l Bingo Night event instead of complementing it (the only such complement NBN ever deserved)…
