If you haven’t been checking out WeDigTV recently, you should go look now. They’ve released a brand new site and two new games: Deal or No Deal and Who Wants to be a Millionaire?. Deal follows typical UK rules and has some very interesting twists and turns, like having to control your heart rate, judge what the offers are going to be, and say how fair the Banker is with them. Then we come to Millionaire which is a bit interesting. That game is the typical 15 question version which is strange since England just switched to pretty crappy new rules, graphics, and music. So, in review, the team at WeDigTV chose the format of the show that didn’t suck. Isn’t that nice of them? Click here to play those fun games, as well as others.

I have played the games, but miss the original site. It might be because of it being a brand-new beta site, but I feel the video quality has become very choppy and slow. I have Road Runner, and I can recall the video moving swiftly before they updated the site. I do give WeDigTV props for the new games, yet I miss the UK’s Price is Right game. Joe Pasquale is kinda like ‘Jerry Lewis’ and ‘Drew Carey’ combined (sans the lbs.) Hopefully, they will return it to their TV2 lineup. They already have Countdown back up now. If you love math & word games, this game is for you. Just don’t spell the word ‘LAWYER’–they call it ‘BARRISTER’.

WOW, yes, the video quality has gone way down. Even for the old games. So far down that the heart-rate game from DoND is unplayable for me — the computer thinks the hearts are passing through at a different time than when they pass through on the screen. Ewww.

It’s very interesting how they put much more “play” in the Deal or No Deal game than just the “picking of cases”, vs the US versions.

i’m only one round through DonD, but i’m not exactly sure if i like it so far. the heartrate game (which was also sluggish on my system) and the “rate the deal” games really didn’t make sense to me… maybe it’s to simulate the pressure of the game with additional (and forced) psychological decisions… but they didn’t seem to fit. i’m not sure. i’ll have to finish a game or two before i can really make a decision.
as for the new site… well, to say the least, i’m glad i still see the label “beta” floating around on a lot of the stuff. “beta,” in my mind, implies that a lot of things could change in the future. bluntly put, i hope a lot of things DO change in the future. :P aside from the sluggish system, the entire site seems a lot darker. (not just the white-to-black background change, but the entire thing just seems less friendly.) having to navigate through the wedigtv “tv” on the front page was a bit annoying, i rather liked it where i could just select my “channel” at the bottom of the page while the selections scrolled through up top. does anyone else feel like saying “wemisswedigtv?” because it doesn’t feel like wedigtv in the least. (sigh) the times, they are a-changin’, i guess…

It’s certainly rather slow now to say the least, and I expect another redesign before the beta label is gone. Perhaps even a reversion to the way they were.
Props to them for doing something interesting with the Deal license, even if I’m not convinced it works; massive props to them for using the 15-question Millionaire.

good news: for whatever reason, the games seem to be working faster now. i can actually play the DonD click-the-hearts game without too much problem anymore.
bad news: the game froze, and right when i opened a blue box. well, that’s beta, folks!

For some reason, I can start the Millionaire game, but can’t play it…hmm. This was before everyone said the games were working faster, so I guess I’ll have to check it out.
DoND, however, is quite interesting. I like how there’s more play involved in the game than just the boxes (like davec said)…it actually got me considering the offers a lot more carefully than I did playing other games. And I like how it incorporates some of the psychological feel to the real show with the heart rate dealie…one of the better games there, IMHO.

I just played DOND on the new WeDigTv (which looks really good) and guess what…..
I WON the 250,000 on just my second playing! The two that I had left were 10p and 250,000. I swapped the box and won the 250,000!
I have to tell you right now though, don’t expect loud cheers, the wings converting, or confetti going off like on the real UK show. Just a heads up.
