Posted by Alex Davis as Games, The Price is Right, UK
It’s not the US version, but trust me, the UK version is close enough. The amazing WeDigTV has launched an absolutely amazing broadband version of The Price is Right based off the newest UK edition with host Joe Pasquale. Come on down to contestants row and bid on various small prices. Be the closest without going over and you get to play one of many many pricing games such as Safe Cracker, Any Number, and more. After all three rounds are over, you get to spin the Showcase Showdown wheel and get over a certain point threshold that lowers the more pricing games you win. Get over the threshold and play the Showcase. The Showcase is different than our version. In this version you push a button to get a certain pound range you can be away from the total price of your showcase. If you can get within the range without going over you win your Showcase. It’s a boatload of fun and very impressive with amazing graphics and video clips from the actual show. They seriously have possibly the best computer game shows available so you’d be a fool not to check it out. What do you all think?

I played the game, and it’s pretty tough. Especially when you have to bid in pounds, not dollars. The showcase final is like TNPIR’s “Range Game”, except it doesn’t have the range that can’t start again for another 37 hours! How many dollars do you get for a pound these days?

It’s about $2 per pound. Pretty sad if you ask me, but if I start talking politics I’ll get yelled at. Their TPiR isn’t really much cheaper than ours.

Yeah; right now it’s almost exactly $2/pound. I’m also trying to figure out why you think that’s sad….

It’s sad that our economy is in the toilet, that’s all I meant.

Thanks. We all know why our economy is in the toilet. Gas prices are high because we buy lots of gas. I know we have no choice over gas until we find a new alternate source, but we must do something.

Isn’t their showcase similar to the remake of our price is right from the 90s? If I recall, the contestant had to stop it as it moved up the board… If they got it in the right range, they won the showcase.

Not bad at all. Interaction of the games are pretty good. I like how the contestants are in that ink and paint 3D look like in the Zelda: Wind Waker game.

But What is great is “Walk The Line” It’s Like “Let ‘Em Roll” but with 5 products to guess higher or lower.

I started thinking WedigTv should do a WeddigtvUSA featuring US shows. But When i ran down through a lsit of our more memorable games i realized the games would lose effect and authenticity because many of the hosts and other personalities are no longer with us. for instance:
The Joker’s Wild: Jack Barry is out :(, Bill Cullen is out :(, Jim Peck maybe could do it.Pat Finn maybe if you wanna do the ’90s version. Charlie O’ Donnell is the only announcer alummni I think of who’s still alive.
Card Sharks: Definitely could be done. all 4 of its hsots are still with us. although we don’t hear much about Jim Perry and Bill Rafferty. Bob Eubanks I’m sure would be willing to do it. But I’m lost for an announcer Becuase both Johnny Olson and Gene Wood are gone :(
High Rollers: possible with Wink nad Dean Gosse as announcer. base it on Wink’s version.
Password: Only possible with Tom kennedy as host and base it on Password Plus, But who is aavaialble to announce?
Lastly, Split Second, I would love to see Split Second online. Really all you’d need to record is Tom saying “Look at the board”. But Jack Clark is gone. :(

Not a bad idea, but here’s what I want.
The Price is Right: Bob Barker hosting and Rich Fields announcing
Let’s Make a Deal: Monty Hall hosting and Dean Goss announcing
High Rollers: Alex Trebek & Dean Goss
The Joker’s Wild: Jim Peck & Charlie O’Donnell
Tic Tac Dough: Wink & Charlie O
Password Plus: Tom Kennedy & Bob Hilton
American Gladiators: Mike Adamle, Larry Csonka, and John Harlan
Press Your Luck: Todd Newton & John Harlan

I like your ideas, Greg…but I personally liked Rich announcing Press Your Luck during the GSM.
Getting back to the game…Joe Pasquale’s voice made me want to turn off the only clip I’ve seen of the UK’s Price is Right…other than his voice, everything was impeccably appealing. Down to the graphics and everything…man, why can’t some of our games be like that?
Which reminds me…there isn’t any “official” web game for the US TPIR, is there?

No there isn’t an official TPIR game for the USA, but if you check out BigJon’s PC Games, it has a really good TPIR for download (complete with 1994 Primetime Mode with Doug Davidson, a tournament style mode where you can play any pricing game, and Million Dollar Spectaculars). Also, that version of TPIR has just about every pricing game current and retired (even has Super Ball, Bullseye I, The Shower Game, Finish Line, Hurdles, etc.)…The same website also does an excellent version of Wheel of Fortune and Deal or No Deal as well.

I think what dropzone5 meant was “Is there an online version of the US TPIR?” One you don’t have to download I mean. I tried downloading Big Jon’s version, but my computer wouldn’t accept some of the files.

2nd item- Bid 1 pound over the lowest computer bid
3rd item- Bid 1 pound over tthe 2nd highest computer bid
