TV Land Shoots UK Import “Celebrity Mr. and Mrs.”
I know some people get sick of constant imports of foreign formats, but if a show has a proven track record elsewhere around the world, it’s a good insurance policy for a run here. It’s why TV Land is shooting what looks to be a pilot for a new British import called Celebrity Mr. and Mrs.. Over there it’s All Star Mr. and Mrs. and from the looks of The Wikipedia, it looks to be pretty popular. I’m sure someone from England can fill in the details.
I’m trying to find some actual rules to the show, but it’s scattered about. Celebrity Mr. and Mrs. seems to be a fairly typical dating-style show, however. UKGameshows (which if you’re a game show fan you should know about already) says that in the original version couples are asked questions about each other, and getting them all right wins the big prize, whatever it may be. It looks like the current version (clips below) looks to carry the essential same idea but adds some more rounds.
Keeping the celebrity element should work out in TV Land’s favor, realistically. Let’s be honest, people are generally going to be far more interested in hearing some amusing stories from celebrities people already know and love than just regular contestants. Fans of the celebrities will actually care to watch something like this. But it is TV Land, a pretty basic cable network, so who they classify as a celebrity is anyone’s guess. The pilot shoots in New York on Friday, July 10th. If anyone’s interested in going, click here and get yourself to the set.

LOL. Family Feud style name tags. Must've been recycled. LOL.
Will they be real celebrities? Or can we expect more reality show crapsters like the Kardashian's or the Hogan's?
