“Has there been a long lasting pop culture related game show in the past, for those that know?”

Couldn’t Who Wants to be a Millionaire be considered a pop culture game show with some of the questions that it asks? Likewise, Jeopardy! is sometimes a pop culture show. And the former is in its 8th year while the latter is in its 24th! Yeah, I’d say pop culture-related game shows can last a long time. =P

What about “Beat the Geeks”, “Debt” and “Hollywood Showdown”? I thought each was pretty good, and most, if not all the material used on those shows was about movies, TV, music and other pop culture subjects.

One pop culture game show you may have forgotten about is the fairly recent GSN original “Starface”. The prime reason the show may have bombed may have been the mistake of hiring Danny Bonaduce as host.

What about Remote Control with Ken Ober, Colin Quinn & Alicia Coppola? It lasted three years on MTV and 1 in syndication.
On the internet alone, You Don’t Know Jack is the Price is Right of the net.Both are due for relaunch, as I feel Jack was never launched properly, by ABC.

It’s your opinion, so I can’t say you are wrong, but “Starface was an entertaining show.” ? umm… I think I have a lot of people who would disagree with that.

TV Guide Network isn’t the same. In the `90s, before corporate greed took over, we had Prvue Guide. It was so awesome! Until a few months until the new acquisition, the listings were only two lines long to make room for a sports segment.

I think this is a trend, categories like history, geography and lit. are becoming scarce. even temptation is using pop culture questions although the original did occasion throw in a question on history or the like. as far as pop culture shows the only other ones I can even remember are Canadian shows: Inside The Box is a decent show (but not without its flaws) and quiznation/playmania clone Pop Q (OT: btw, for those of you who thought quiznation/playmania was bad watch Pop Q it’s a train wreck!)

Oh, one just came to mind: Fox’s bomb: It’s Your chance of a lifetime was mostly pop culture questions.

Season 2 of World Series of Pop Culture was too short like the first season but still my favorite pop culture game show. Do anybody remember My Generation> I think that’s a pop culture game show but I don’t remember…

I really enjoy VH1’s “World Series of Pop Culture,” but other than that, I generally prefer game shows that have a good mix of content - both pop culture and not. But, yes, “The Soup” is awesome :)
