TOP 07 OF 07: Number One

I don’t think it’ll be a huge surprise as to what is number one: Drew Carey’s debut as host of The Price is Right. I’m not saying the earth shook when Bob Barker retired (mainly because I’m not really a fan of his), but it was still big. There was a pretty big division in the game show world, which was either between sane, skeptical fans and sane, accepting fans; or sane fans and insane Bob Barker people. A vast majority of people were very happy with Drew Carey’s performance, and I can honestly say I have not cared about The Price is Right until he came in. He made the show a lot more fun than it has been in ages.

A tiny note: we could not do this without mentioning the monumental passing of game show icon Merv Griffin.  Every person working in game shows was influenced by some him, and there is no other out there today as good as he is.

Funny note: they aired for the first time here in the local market the promo done by Drew for TPiR localized (yes even a small 100k market) but the funny thing is the local market then screwed it up pairing his picture and the promo with a schedule showing
    5p - Jeopardy
    6p - Local News
    6:30p - Wheel

    HEHEHE

I love it when I’m right!

I looked back at what I typed last July. and I remember how the game show community was torn in two about the decision. Then “Po10″ debuted….After that first show I could think of only one word…PERFECT!!

I’ve been taping “Price” daily ever since Drew’s era started. I only recall taping Bob Barker’s “Price” only thrice. For the 5000th Episode, Bob Barker’s 50th Year Salute and Bob’s Finale.

This is what “The Price is Right” needed. A new host and a new chapter in the legacy of The World’s Greatest Gameshow.

I agree with the statement that Price needed is a breath of fresh air. I literally thought the show was becoming stale and boring the last few years. then Drew stepped throught those big doors and Price went back to being fun again. I look forward to many more years with Drew at the helm. I’ve been watching every day. go Drew!
