The Ugly Side of British Game Show “Divided”

When I was first posting the episode of the new British game show Divided for you all, I purposely chose a nice ending so you can see how good it can be.  Now let’s go to the dark side.  Let’s show you how evil it can be.

Wow! This show is awesome! It shows that working as a team is an all or nothing proposition. I think this would work perfectly on GSN. The budget is just right for a weekly show there once 20Q bombs. ;-)

    That poor girl.

Yeah, I think we need this in the States and quickly. Good amount of trivia plus it appeals to all of our nastiest qualities. When we do bring it to the States, though, if the pot goes down to $0, each player should be equipped with boxing gloves and they can take it out on each other over the credits.

Louise is the absolute worst kind of idiot out there–intelligent enough to think she knows what she should do, but still dumb enough to not see how her decision is the worst she could possibly make. “I don’t back down”…since when has that been a justification at all for staying with an obviously bad option?

And considering this show can create such strong emotional reactions like that one (in me, anyway), some company would be very wise to pick this up for the States here.

I’ll echo what has been said. It has good trivia content and a chance to see a person’s true character when it comes to the money. It would be nice to see it here in the U.S.

This has FOX written all over it.

    Summer 2010? Please?

This show is cool, but there really aren’t enough questions in an hour, just like 5th Grader. I’d still like to know what happens if a team walks after the 1st or 2nd round, do they still stretch that to an hour?

Before calling any of these players idiots for not backing down, I’d want to see the whole show–did that lady or guy really do any good for the team, or were they just being greedy?

  • gamerrox says:

Would be nice if the “voice” told the viewers how well each player actually did, similar to how they explain the weakest and strongest link each round on Weakest Link.

  • Travis P says:

Wayne, the format is designed that if a team leaves early then the next game will start in the same show and continue onto the next show (like Millionaire). We had a team on Tuesday who left after round 2 and another one (with three women) on Thursday.

Alex, you should upload the divided end game featuring the three women from Thursday.

Hmmm. We’ve already seen this show. Wasn’t it called FRIEND OR FOE?

Only kidding… it’s a similar concept, but the arguing between the three while the money is going down makes for the entertainment. Not a bad idea. I think I’d either let GSN have it or give it to FOX. It just seems like their type of show. :)

this segment kinda reminded of a short-lived TBS reality show called “The Mansion” the way the show worked was that the group would decide on a “foreman” and the entire group would do renovations on a particualr room/area of the mansion for a week, the judges then award them up to $10,000 based on how well they did in the opinon of the judges. the total is then divided up in paychecks sometimes in equal amounts, sometimes not and sometimes there aren’t enough paychecks for everyone. The foreman then decides who gets which check and can even give one person more than one check or keep it all for themselves, the thing was, it was a viewer vote to determine who wins the house. so you didn’t want to look greedy or you’ll lose out on the house.

As far as this show goes, I like the trivia rounds, particularly when I know an answer right out of the gate and they’re taking way too long to agree and answer. But this final segment, I dunno… maybe if they did a pseudo-LMAD and in this case, they could say share A is at least 2,000, share B is at least 6,000, share C is at least 3,000. and if 2 people can’t agree on a share, the third person still gets their share.

  • Eric says:

I kinda like marcs idea there was no reason the girl who wasn’t part of the argument should have gotten the share she took, another way I think the voting should go is how the money should be split. option A would be all even option B would be 60%-30%-10% option C would be 50-30-20 if the team decided on option A no second vote if a team chose B or C then would procede from before and as beforwe have the clock count down from the first decision if no agreement.
