“The Singing Bee” Renewed for Third Season
I hope you all are enjoying your Thanksgiving weekend. I wanted to give you a quick bit of news while I’m still away. CMT’s version of the karaoke game The Singing Bee has been picked for a third season. Deadline Hollywood first reported the information. The Singing Bee first aired on NBC in 2007, hosted by Joey Fatone. CMT took the show over in 2009 where it has been hosted by Melissa Peterman. This is the show’s third season for CMT and its fourth season all together. CMT’s version retains the basic idea of the NBC version, where contestants have to guess the lyrics to popular songs. Since CMT is country-focused they do roughly 60% country music and 40% popular music so anyone can get involved. I know the show had a lot of fans around here so I’m guessing you’re pretty happy about its pickup?

It’s not fair that CMT gets to have “The Singing Bee”, yet VH1 is stuck with the lame half-hour “Don’t Forget the Lyrics”…
I agree with Chris. I think DFTL is slow and you only get 5 songs while TSB plays a bunch of songs and isn’t drawn out. Too bad they can’t do a normal version of TSB. I know some country, but I just can’t take that much.
I can see a lot of people taking issue with your definition of the word “normal”.
Maybe if they move it to MTV they can spread their song genre focus better. Nevertheless, keep the CMT format.
They need a new host. Melissa Peterman makes me physically and violently ill!
