FOX, today, revealed the site for their newest game show “The Rich Li$t”. In the game, teams will have to name more items in a category that can be pop culture related or general trivia than the other team. The main twist is that there are two teams of three, and no one on the show knows each other; everyone is a stranger. The winning team moves on to play “The Rich Li$t”, where they can win most likely lots of money (early reports show $250,000, but that may be changed). However, one wrong answer and it is all gone. The best part is that a team can play on for an unlimited number of shows, so who knows how much one team can win. The show is hosted by UK game show host Eamonn Holmes. “The Rich Li$t” debuts November 1st at 9PM ET on FOX.
For some reason, I am having really high hopes for the show, especially since it’s basically a straight trivia game, and we won’t see many of those. Applause to FOX as well for doing an original game and not a “Deal or No Deal” ripoff.

Really like Eamonn Holmes. I saw a taping of Jet Set and enjoyed him hosting Playing For Time in the UK. I think he’ll do a great job here…laid back but knows when to turn on the tension.

Well, relatively speaking it’s original. The front game seems reminiscent of Hot Potato without the “Three of a Kind”
However, I would like this to get off the ground, too. This is a pretty simplistic game which means it’s easy to follow. That tends not to alienate the Lowest Common Denominator and thus allows the potential for smashing success.

Looks like this might be a hit too. But I’m keeping in mind that this is a FOX game show. So I’m pretty sure the FOX people will can this like the did with GREED. It was a huge hit til they went cheap and canned it.

If you watch the video with Eamonn Holmes on the site, you get a good look at the set and the prize board for the bonus list. Here’s what it looks like:
15 answers = $250,000
12 answers = $150,000
9 answers = $75,000
6 answers = $25,000
3 answers = $10,000
We may see some big wins on this show, so I’ll probably check it out. I hope that it is as good as “Greed” since obviously they didn’t choose to revive that game..

Eamonn’s a good host, but sufficiently laid-back and low-key that I doubt US audiences will really appreciate him. The format seems pretty good and contrasts nicely with the Deal clones, but I have a feeling that it won’t be quite… crazy enough for primetime.
Something about this just makes me think ’syndie hit’ for some reason.

IF it were to be on after American Idol I think it would do really well. this sounds like a fun show and i hope it does great.
