“The Price is Right” Season 39 Photo Gallery

The new game show season is starting next week, and we’ll be featuring all the returning shows for the next few days.  The Price is Right begins its new season on Monday, September 20th.  A few new features are being thrown in to its 39th season to make it more exciting than ever.  A few of the changes are just cosmetic, with some of the old, decaying games thankfully getting redone.  Another is a new game, Pay the Rent, which is played for up to $100,000.  They’ve come a long way since the dreaded grandfather clocks.  CBS provided us with a few snapshots of the new season of The Price is Right take a look.  Here are some nice studio shots of the new skinny Drew Carey also.  Included is a look at J.D. Roberto at the announcer podium.

Drew looks great, for the most part. But it seems so weird having J.D. at the announcer’s podium rather than Rich.

  • Marc says:

I agree Thomas, it didn’t really hit me until the 4th pic. in the gallery Drew looks so much smaller its unbelievable. and a new announcer is definitely going to be an adjustment, but I will admit this, at first I didn’t like Rich Fields but I grew to like him especially once they let him clown around a bit. so I guess this new guy can grow on me too.

  • Is it just me, or does Drew’s new look channel Bill Cullen ever so slightly?

  • Dontryl Alexander says:

Drew looks good, and I hope season 39 will be better; but I miss JD on Flamingo Fortune.

  • Joshua says:

Wow, Drew looks amazing! It’s gonna take a little bit of time to see him in that new figure, lol!

  • ScottNotSteve says:

I was thinking the same “Bill Cullen” thing as well. He has slimmed down, and those glasses, and the way he is mugging for those photos. Look at some old Cullen promo stills and you’ll know what I mean.

  • Andrew says:

Bill Cullen passed away 20 years ago, and it looks as if his soul has gone into Drew Carey.

Is J.D. Roberto is trying to look like Rich Fields? I hope he’s not the permanent announcer. I’m hoping for Brad Shrewood choosen.

  • Netstryke says:

Holy Crow! Now that you mention it…The resemblance is uncanny. it’s as if Bill Cullen quantum Leaped into Drew! As most times I will not pass judgement on JD Roberto until I see the show.
He does have a fair amount of Game Show experience so I’ll give him a shot.

  • Brandon says:

JD looks a lot like a young Bob Eubanks c. 1972. Gotta get used to seeing skinny Drew, esp. with the sandy blonde hair…

  • Derek says:

Looking good Drew. I can’t believe he lost all that weight. Maybe you wanted to skinny like Bob did!

  • Chas says:

I want the bigger Drew back! And the thicker framed glasses he had on his ABC sitcom! That’s the Drew I knew and loved most!

  • Jayne Spencer says:

It is said, that at an older age, people don’t care for change. Now that I have arrived at that older age, I find it is a truth. Please someone tell me why Rich Field is no longer with “The Price is Right” . Every show Drew stated that he was the best of the best as an anouncer.??? Please help me understand.

Change of direction. I think Fremantle saw how well the Wayne Brady/Jonathan Mangum connection was working on LMAD and wanted to replicate it a bit for TPIR. So they fired Rich, and they’re auditioning other, non-established announcers (JD Roberto, Brad Sherwood, and Jeff Davis). Read the archives.

Fremantle supposedly wanted to get rid of him for a long time. Unlike the other two times they tried (Barker and “The Dob” saved him on two different occasions), Rich had no one in his corner. (When the story broke as a rumour back in early June, Drew was on his way to or in South Africa for the World Cup.)

pay the rent game-STRATEGY-to win the $100000 prize you need to adopt a different approach whereby you do not start with the lowest priced item. there is only one way to win this game. first you have to put the highest priced item on top. next pick a upper moderately priced item for the first floor. save the lowest priced item to be added to a

  • dan says:

continued===another moderately priced item for the second or third floor.. most price is right games you put price items from lowest to highest. this is not the case here. if you do use this strategy the most you will walk away with is 10000 dollars because the last item will not be more than the two next higher items. so walk at 10000 if you pick the lowest priced item first. good luck.

On the premiere of the 39th season of The Price Is Right, I went for one of the first four contestants, Rebecca. She had long, dark hair and a gray shirt. She got out of Contestants’ Row on the first try and got to play the 1st pricing game. She won something expensive in Contestants’ Row. She played Pay the Rent, which I found out that it was the new pricing game in July 2010. You can either win $100,000, $10,000, $5,000, $1,000, or nothing. $1,000 is the mailbox. $5,000 is the TV and the range. $10,000 is the sofa and the bath tub. $100,000 is the safe. Everybody has a safe in their addic. There are 6 grocery items. Each floor must total more than the floor under it. If you lose on the way up the house, you lose everything. Rebecca lost $10,000.
