“The Price is Right” and “Let’s Make A Deal” Debut New Seasons Today on CBS

Two of daytime’s favorite game shows return for a brand new season of big money and prizes.  First for many people, but check your local listings, is the third season debut of Let’s Make A Deal.  The Wayne Brady hosted game show, also starring Jonathan Mangum and Tiffany Coyne, sees new features like an upgraded modern set, bigger cash, bigger prizes, and new games.  We’ve already seen some of the new games like “Go For A Spin” and “Strike A Match”, and much more are planned.  You can see some outtakes and bloopers from the show here.  Check your local listings.  Its times vary across the country.

I’m guessing many of you are excited for the season debut of The Price is Right, though.  Drew Carey and George Gray return along with an updated set featuring a large new monitor, new lighting, and a few other things you’ll see today.  It’s the show’s 40th season and they’re celebrating by updating the historic cash figures on some games, bringing in big new prizes, and new celebrity guests.  The Price is Right typically airs at 11:00AM ET on CBS.

Be sure to write in the comments what you thought of the season debuts.  I’m curious to see what you think of the new looks and updated features for both shows.

Celebrity guests don’t excite a lot of people now :)

  • ????? says:

And 90 minutes before most of the East Coast sees the TPIR premiere, Golden-road.net is still down, presumably working on their usual updated graphics for the new season :)

  • LaJuan says:

Did the first 5 mins. of TPIR really just happen? *Cautious/Concerned eye*

  • ????? says:

I guess it did. Of course there’s no Golden-road.net chatting about it as it’s down now, not because of upgrading the graphics. It was a good beginning to the show, but it could have been more problematic than it was. The second and third games were well blah.

  • Homer says:

Maybe GR’s collective head finally exploded? :-) (All in good fun.)

    • JK says:

If 3 cars = a “Triple Play”, 4 cars in the Race Game is certainly a Grand Slam to end them all! I think the only way to top 4 cars in one game is if they can fit Cars onto the Small prize pedestals reserved for games like “Switcheroo”, “Shell Game” and such…but that’s just silly talk.

    • Devin de Gruyl says:

There’re already rumors flying about what happened to G-R, and I’d as soon not get into any of them, but some of what I’ve heard… let’s just say that if there’s any truth to it, might just set a very bad precedent. I’ll say no more for now.

  • Jared Oswald says:

I would rather see Danger Price be placed for Four Cars. But Race Game Not Bad.

  • JK says:

I’ve seen people spoil something without putting a Spoiler Alert on that page before, but even if it was for a prize setup that big, I can’t imagine something like a Botched spoiler being capable of crashing the entire site. It’d be like the “Lifetime” network shutting down every time somebody mentions the word “Men” (To make a very bad metaphor)

OK, seriously, I’ve deleted a lot of comments so far. Do not insult specific members of Golden Road or say anything nasty about them. Do that elsewhere. Not specifically in the comments. It’s annoying and played out.

  • Homer Jay says:

Good show to kick things off. I’d think the crowd who complains mightily about trivial things would have been happy with the clips used today (can we out to pasture the silly notion that the powers that be have some kind of animosity to history?), but have no delusions.

  • djcchs2004 says:

That was the epic first six minutes of this season. On the first bid of the season, someone got it right on the nose & won four cars on Race Game… on the first try.

  • Matt says:

Here are some other games that can win 3 or 4 cars: Take Two ( to win 4 cars), Most Expensive( win 3 cars), Easy as 1-2-3 ( win 3 cars), 1 Wrong Price(to win 3 cars, played once on the prime time special), Danger Price( win 4 cars), Poker Game( to win 4 cars ), More or Less( win 4 cars). That’s all I can think of.

An exciting start to TPIR’s new season. I wonder if any new pricing games will be introduced this season. Nice to include Barker clips. I thought just for a second, they would show the first item on Barker’s TPIR (a fur coat). But they cut to a commercial.

As of this morning (9/20) at 8 am, EST, the Golden Road site is STILL down.

Did they mention he season premiere on LMAD? I don’t think Wayne Brady mentioned it at all.

  • Todd says:

Someone on G-R did actually “spoil” the 4 cars and the Porsche, but nobody believed him or her…until now.

    • Clardaro says:

I don’t think it was a question of not believing him, I don’t think anybody cared. Even with the deliberate spoiler it didn’t diminish the OMGness of that amazing win, and the high excitement of the 40th season opener. At least it didn’t for me!

  • Jan Isaacson says:

I don’t feel so far that the new season has the same homey feeling. I liked when they did the deals on the steps instead of away from the audience. i miss the rap songs they sung, the beauty parlor and interogation sketch,Judge Tiffany. i miss the interaction with the audience.
