If you’ve been looking around at basically any game show forum, you may be one of the senders of the many many many emails regarding the new The Price is Right doors and logo. All in all it looks incredibly nice looking; better than I’ve seen in my time. Take a look at the picture below, courtesy of someone from Facebook.

Nice pic of Drew and the doors, but who’s the lovely lady next to him? One of Carey’s Cuties?

They weren’t kidding when they said they wouldn’t be messing with the retro formula of the show - that almost seems about as retro as it gets. Not sure if I like the occasionally clashing colours, but it works.

I dig it. It certain has a nice late 50s/ early 60s feel to it.
Goodbye, rainbow-riffic 70s set. Hello, new reto-esque set.
Oh, and JD Nole, I think you just coined a new replacement phrase for “Barker’s Beauties”.

That is soooooo retro.
I guess they’re using the modern classic look. A far cry from what we predicted the new set would become.
I bet they even redesigned the microphone for Drew into something that Gene Rayburn or Monty Hall used on their shows in the 1980’s.
Or they could have used the set from the first season of 1972.
Who knows. But after seeing what Drew did for the power of 10, he’ll be just fine on TPIR.

Ooh, very retro. The golden colors reminds me of “the New Price Is Right” in 1973.

I love TPIR’s new look. Really retro. The orange on Door 1 really stands out. The new logo kicks butt. Drew looks smashing in that pic and so does the girl. I feel Season 36 will rock! Long live the Price is Right.

Sweet! The other doors look the same- door number 2 is blue, and door number 3 is green. The turntable is also changed- it’s now got blue and green steps, with the turntable itself being blue, green and purple.

That lovely lady next to Drew and the new doors is none other that Roger Dobkowitz’s daughter, Rebecca. It was posted on Facebook last night on her profile, and has now been removed.

Actually, it was I who coined that term a while ago (see previous posts about the new TPiR), but whatever. I think this is a great new look for The Price is Right set, and I can’t wait to see the rest of it when the show finally airs in the fall.

Hey, it worked with Family Feud last season.
I tell you neo-retro is in.

Retro, yet modern. I LOVE IT! I can’t wait to see the other set updates.
Here’s to Season 36 of TPIR! Rebecca is quite the…..”Cutie.”

I was at all 6 tapings this week - the picture is door #1, door #2 is blue, and door #3 and the giant pricetag are green with the same pattern as door #1. The turntable also has the same pattern as the doors and is purple with blue and green carpeting for the steps. Perhaps the most noticable change is the curtains in studio - pastel colors of light blue, yellow, and orange drape the audience area as opposed to the old red, blue, green, and yellow that we’re used to.

Hmmm…love that picture with the new PIR door design. Now, TPIR with Drew Carey (well, since I admired his work on Whose Line?) will definitely and really be MUST SEE TV!!!

There were no changes to the wheel or any of the games played this week. I was talking to Roger Dobkowitz (the producer of the show) and he told me that Fremantle had propsed a new set that looked similar to American Idol’s set. While some of the set changes I didn’t particularly like (such as the pastel curtains), They could’ve done much worse.

One more thing I forgot to mention - not pictured is the neon lights below the green border that surrounds the door.

NOOOoooooooooooooooooooooooooooo ….. every fan’s biggest nightmare.. American-Idolitizing TPIR would be the nail in the coffin of their fantastic 35 year run. That’s all it needs is the standard dark blue set, sweeping lights, and some “bmm chh bmm chh” cues and they’ll have that show cancelled in a month.
Just because WL, WWTBAM, Greed, AI and the hundred other shows have gone that way doesn’t mean it’s the only way to modernize a game show. How do they not see that crap as a tired overused theme and a lazy modification of something that has proven itself for decades?
Man, can you even imagine? :p

Wow. This has raised my confidence level on the future of the show again. And that level was sky high to begin with. I can’t friggin’ wait.

Does the music sound exactly the same, just in stereo, or did they butcher it?

I hear poor Drew bruised himself up pretty good by getting his arm smashed between the turntable during the taping of his first pricing game. I’ll knock on wood and wont say it cant get any worse.

The new theme music is the same note-for-note but it has more percussion and harpish elements to it. In studio, I could tell it was re-orchestrated, and it wasn’t that they just took the mono version and just superimposed other sound effects over it.

looks good…truth be told this set needed to be on Barker’s version as the various attempts to update the classic set were miserable to say the least and at worst…well the exploded coloring book set of 2002-2003 may it rest in peices!
Here’s my question. What is the rotation of PGs looking like? Are there any new PGs to be seen and more importantly have they cut way back to try to make drew’s life easier (which would be a MASSIVE mistake). Also how are they balancing the quickies as this was a MAJOR issue with the last 4 years of Barker’s version.
Haven’t seen power of 10 yet. I heard he’s pretty good…however the jeans with the blazer…ick…no no no gotta be a little more formal than that, drew…this isn’t Shop til you drop (aka TPIR’s retarded cousin) gotta have a lil more style
and man who did roger dobkowitz shack up with to make a girl like that  great job ol man :)

I don’t know the pricing game rotation - but I do know that as of last week’s tapings - Drew only knows 7 games. All the tapings used 6 of the 7 games - which I guess would make things easier for Drew . I’d assume the next few weeks of tapings would use six or seven different games. In only one of the games, his hand caused a stop tape due to gameplay - I don’t even know how he was able to hold up his microphone just an hour after a minor surgery on his left hand.

Re: Glenn
I read in Voltaire’s taping report on G-R.net that Drew wears a suit. This picture must’ve been taken during a rehearsal.

No question Drew will wear a suit on the show. But I’ve been wondering if he’s going to wear those loud, black-framed glasses, or the glasses he’s wearing in the picture with Rebecca Dobkowitz (IMHO I hope he wears THAT pair because he looks much better), or no glasses at all? Someone who was at the taping should let us know!

Drew wore the loud, black-framed glasses during the show. It’s something that he’s known for - as many of the T-shirts that day referenced Drew’s glasses.

Bob Barker will be very hard to replace no matter who was picked for the new host. I only hope they didn’r change the theme song for the price show nor the small jingles throughout when the prizes are being shown. I think that is a big part of what has made and kept The Price is right as popular as it has for all these years. The familiar theme song, the familiar games and the set have made those who have watched the show since day One know that it is the one thing in this everchanging world that just hasen’t changed. If CBS is smart they will make there changes few and minor and it would be really nice to see Bob barker show up on the show from time to time to surprise us all. Long Live The Price Is right!!
