“The Million Pound Drop”, “The Cube” and “Millionaire” Plan Holiday Specials

Fans of the British TV series The Million Pound Drop, The Cube, and Who Wants to be a Millionaire have a special gift coming their way for Christmas.  Each show will have special episodes celebrating the holidays, some featuring celebrities playing for charity and some live.

*For the second straight year The Million Pound Drop will be live on Channel 4 hoping to give away hundreds of thousands, if not finally the full £1,000,000, to one lucky couple.  The newest series with Davina McCall hosting will start Monday, December 5th and run through Friday the 9th at 10PM each day.  As always the episodes will be live.  Don’t be shocked to see a celebrity possibly pop up.  If you want to find out how to be a contestant, click here.

*It’s been over two years and four series and still no one has beaten The Cube yet.  That could change with The Cube Corrie Special.  Coronation Street actors Ryan Thomas and Julie Hesmondhalgh will step into The Cube hoping to take £250,000 from it for charity.  This special can be seen on Saturday, December 24th, at 6PM.

*Who Wants to be a Millionaire on ITV continues to have only celebrities play the game.  On Monday, December 19th, ITV says another live special can be seen at 8:30PM.  Some of England’s favorite celebrities will play as a team and try to win £1,000,000.  Half will go to charity and half will go into a viewer prize pot which will be given away at the end of the show.  The show has gone without civilian players for over a year and regularly sees over four million viewers for these specials.
