No one can censor us with this one: according to Broadcasting & Cable, Roger King’s two new shows, “The Joker’s Wild” and The Other One are not being taken to NATPE 2007. Reasons? He says the lack of right time periods. This is a bit confusing counting that three shows were just announced recently. What I’m going to believe is that they don’t feel that the two shows can compare or that it’s just not worth the cost. Either one, so who knows. Roger King says they are reassessing “The Joker’s Wild” and The Other One. He says we may see them in January of next year, but we’ll have to see about that.
Now what I’ve wanted to type for a bit: there’s a reason we aren’t using “The Joker’s Wild”’s companion by name. Recently “people close to the show” tried to get us to change and/or pull the original article saying that the shows were dead from our site. We refused. The reason we refused is that this is not the first time this is happened. The creator of The Other One wanted us to pull an article nearly a year ago where we said hiring Todd Newton to host “The Price is Right” would be one of the worst decisions possible. Again, this was OUR opinion. He wanted us to pull the article because it might hurt his feelings. We were just forming and didn’t want any bad blood, so we agreed. We thought that the most recent attempt was just plain pathetic and an attempt to stroke the ego of someone’s show which did not make it. This is the honest to whatever god you believe in truth of what happened, and we were a bit hurt, upset, and angered by the situation. We felt we needed to state this publicly.
But hey, look at the great shows we have for 2007! “Temptation(s)” is coming, and I know you all will love it. We might see either “Catch Phrase” or “Connections” plus another three were just announced. And we’re so confused about “Deal or No Deal” right now we don’t know what’s going to happen. Be on the lookout as this week is NATPE, and everything will be announced right here on BuzzerBlog!

Please remember. Paul Ford had nothing to do with the above statement.

Why does this fiasco not surprise me? *Starts searching memory* Ah yeah! That’s right…
It’s your site Alex, you report the GS news, thus, you do it how YOU want. If somebody doesn’t like you posting how their show got canned in pre-production, when it’s the truth, too bad. That’s called life, deal with it, and it was gonna have to get out eventually…
And I agree with your final statement, it’s something I’ve said before. There are a huge number of GS prospects for syndication at NATPE. We have plenty to look forward to and keep track of outside of TJW and uhm, yeah…

Right…..Well, yay for the new shows of 2007 anyway!
Anyway, Alex, you do such a great job here…Don’t let that (bleeping) guy get to you. You always ran this site your way, why change?

JRJ has an ego the size of Texas. All he does is talk about himself and his connections (I know from a personal meeting with him). He has not only been in hot water with this site, but also in other areas not appropriate for discussion here.

He wanted me to pull my Joker’s Wild, High Rollers, and Bullseye from my website because I used the sounds from his games for mine. Well, I refused but I told him that I would put a disclamer on my site that said where I got the sounds. After reading this, that disclamer is going off my page.

If he’s not censored you, why aren’t you saying the title?

We’re a bit angry with Ricci and what he’s done to us multiple times because we posted about things he’s loosely involved in, so we just decided it was best not to publicize his show any more than needed. Also, we made the decision today to just not bring the show up again. It’s the best way just to avoid the anger and the petty feud all together. We really don’t have to worry about bringing it up again though, do we?

I’m not going to get involved in the discussion about whether Ricci is a bad guy or not. I’ll just say that his cyber-bullying is childish and VERY unprofessional. That being said, I’m sorry that Joker and Lock aren’t going to be shopped for fall 07. I was looking forward to both, but esp. Joker.
That being said, it’ll be great if Catch Phrase and Connections, as well as the other three shows sell. It would make a tremendous boost for the genre, which is finally ending one of its down periods.

I agree. This back and forth arguing is nonsense. Sounds like something Fox News would do.
