I think the change is a good thing. AJ seems like a nice guy, but let’s be honest: he added no interesting commentary to the show. Losing him from the show has to be a positive.

It seemed to me that Gabe went out of his way to ridicule AJ. This being said I hope the repore between Gabe and whom ever cohosts in the future works better for the show and Gabe's comedic timing. Johnbgood

How many times in previous seasons has Gabe Kaplan made fun of AJ's lack of poker abilities?

I do agree that AJ got screwed over in being replaced but don't see how you can legitimately complain about Kara coming on board.

Ckueless sounds interesting. Not sure if GSN'll snag it. They have serious questions to deal with about HSP. We'll see what happens there.

As for Cash Battle, I wouldn't mind seeing that in syndication maybe next year or 2011. The mysterious "Black Box" sounds like what the early Dorr #4 was on the 80's version of LMaD or Aussie's $ale of the Century's Cash Vault. We'll see where it goes from here.

I don;t like the sounds of adding an interviewer either. to me, what makes high stakes poker stand out, is that it lacks the glitz and flashiness of all the poker tourneys. It makes it feel like your just watching "the guys" (and gals on occasion) having some fun. I would think that's the gimmick they were trying to portray, an interviewer would kill that gimmick.

I'm a poker player, and this news is most disturbing to me. High Stakes Poker is the only poker game on the air that has a cash game as it's regular format. With that distinction, poker players watch the show since it brings something different compared to all the tournament stuff they do on other shows. That, and AJ Benza always seems like a guy that is knowledgeable and has a great rapport with Kaplan. To have him let go is a huge mistake. Each poker show out there can't have a host format interchangeable plugged in. What works for High Stakes Poker does NOT work for The World Series of Poker on ESPN, or the World Poker Tour, or Poker After Dark. I agree that this new mindset for the show will most likely have the core audience leave, especially since Benza's presence will be missed.
