The British are Better Than Us: Only Connect Preliminary Match Part One
Sorry for the delay, I had a pressing matter this weekend. But here we go, the first part of the first episode of what seems to be pretty popular around here now, Only Connect. I know we were talking how that championship game was brutally hard, but this game is much easier to go along with. It’s tough, but you can play along easily. And again, I do agree with a lot of you that something like this on PBS as a college tournament or something would be incredibly welcomed. I could see something like this, a show which rewards intelligence, in this era of game shows which really doesn’t for the most part, being a cult hit, much like Cash Cab on Discovery.

Yes, this was certainly easier to play along with for me – I got 4 or 5 of them before time ran out. For me, Memento was a dead give-away! :)
OMG…you mean there are other game shows out there that require the use of your brain?! ;)
Seriously, though. I like this. *nods*
Having seen the championship I’m sure the lapsed psychologists will win this game. The last sequence was easy, and some of the others seemed difficult until the answer was revealed.
I think it’s somewhat ironic, the two I get right (the backwards story line off ONE clue), are the two that no one else gets.
Ha! I love how encouraging the hostess is: “If you get it off one clue, you get 5 points, but that’s almost impossible.”
“Mozart’s soothing EINE KLEINE NACCCCHTMUSIK”.
Proof once again that Vicki Coren rules.
Well in fairness JC, you’d need to be some kind of psychic to predict which way the question’s going wouldn’t you? It’s more possible in the sequence round though.
…Although several times the team did actually say the right answer on clue 1, even for connections, but didn’t have the guts for it. So it is possible but you do need to gamble.
Quick question, why isn’t the quicktime version up?
I put the entire grand finale on my Zune and I’d love to do so with this episode as well. >_>
As for the episode itself, it’s great to actually be able to play along. The grand finale is more like “stare in awe at how smart these guys are”. =P
