The Brady Family Comes to “Trivial Pursuit” in November

It’s a bit alarming and disappointing to see Trivial Pursuit hovering around 0.6 in the ratings and unable to gain any real ground. It’s a fun little show that really should be watched more than it is. Maybe the show’s November sweeps stunts will help out. If you’re a fan of The Brady Bunch, be sure to check out next week. Along with host Christopher Knight, America’s Team captains next week will be all Brady. It concludes on Friday with three Brady members playing the game, and it looks like Barry Williams, who played Greg, may be hosting for a bit. Here’s a funny preview and blooper from the episode.

Then, during the week of November 17th, is “Here Come the Judges” week, where some of television’s most popular judges like Judge Alex, Judge Lynn (Divorce Court), and Judge Christina (Christina’s Court; who knew this existed? Shocker to me here) will be America’s Team captains. On Friday, they will all compete on the actual show where Bailiff Byrd from Judge Judy (is that seriously still on the air? Wow.) makes a surprise appearance. I don’t think I’ve watched a daytime court show in my life so I’m not more excited than usual for this week, but the Brady week, judging by the clip presented, looks to be a lot of fun.

Eve may need to wash her mouth out with some soap after that little flub.

Usually, when a show is desperate for ratings, they bring on D-list celebs to try and spice things up. This also indicates that a show is bordering on cancellation and will do anything celebrity-related to stay alive (see Bullseye, Hot Potato, Temptation, and Hole In The Wall). My guess is that TP: AP is falling into the latter category. I’m also wondering if this is an ill omen for future game shows without any brand name appeal or built-in audiences.

TP just hasn’t connected with me. It’s not a terrible show, it’s just not interesting enough to keep my attention. I think it’s because Christopher Knight doesn’t ask any of the questions and really doesn’t do much. It’s all these video clips doing all the work. I don’t want to see Barry Williams host anything…hasn’t his 15 minutes for the Brady Bunch expired yet?

P.S. Christina’s Court has actually won an Emmy (I can’t believe it, either)!

It really didn’t surprise me that they would have a “Brady Week”. What did surprise me is the week of judges. And, yes, Alex, Judge Judy’s still on the air (it actually competes with Deal or No Deal here in Shreveport). DB25, FYI, most of those Brady’s 15 minutes of fame expired 14 minutes early.

The nice part of having the Brady’s on the show is that it really was a show of support for their TV and, as best you can, real life brother Chris Knight. All of them grew up together on the show, and they all keep in touch. For some, it had been a few years since they’d actually seen each other, so this really was a good time for them and a chance to catch up. They were genuinely happy to be there, and I think the finished product shows that too. The clip shows just how real they are and how much fun they had.

I like the board game. It’s great family fun. I even liked the Brady Bunch back in the day. Chris Knight might possibly be the worst host that I’ve ever seen on TV though. The concept of viewer generated questions and the way that they play the game is a good one I think. It’s the host. He’s terrible and he’s either got to develop an interesting personality or bail out.

I watch this show because I like the trivia aspect of it, but Christopher Knight's people skills and how he interacts with the players makes me cringe. Sometimes, it's downright painful to watch! He's not good, bordering on terrible. It's like he doesn't know how to talk to people sometimes, and you can tell that even the players and the audience don't know how to react to some of the things he says. I wish they would find someone new…I think the ratings would go up and it would be more popular if they did.
