“The Bank Job” Reaches Over Two Million Game Plays; Projects Over London

The Bank Job is coming January 2nd to Channel 4, and the George Lamb hosted quiz show is gearing up with some interesting ways to expose the show.  First off, though, the online game hit a nice milestone.  The game which allows you to get on the show, which can be played by anyone in the world by clicking here, has reached over two million plays.  The online version has been played by over 110,000 people in the UK alone.  In fact, one woman from Scotland played a remarkable 500+ games in just one week.  That comes to playing for almost 26 hours across the week.  That’s dedication.  And that’s someone wanting to get on the show to win huge cash.

Channel 4 is trying to bring some more exposure to The Bank Job with a series of projections across London.  Throughout the city a projected “bank job” was pulled on several different buildings.  It features a vault being blown open with hundreds of thousands of pounds flying out before displaying the show’s motto, “Get Rich and Get Out,” followed by the show’s Twitter information.  With Christmas shoppers around everywhere it’s a smart idea and something very different.  I’ve not seen it done for a game show before.  Take a look below.

I love this concept!!! This definitely should come to the USA! I’d love to play this game and hopefully the US format could have someone win around $200,000 to $500,000 playing this! Plus, as far as a host for the US format, maybe we could hit up Todd Newton (of Whammy! & Family Game Night fame) or Anderson Cooper (of The Mole). Any other suggestions of good quality hosts for the US format?

    • Scott says:

Anderson should get off CNN and his new talk show and go back to hosting game shows. He was a classic hosting The Mole. Not sure why they axed him for Ahmad Rashad of Real TV. Sigh…

The Bank Job might be a good fit for NBC or FOX, seeing as both of those networks had promotions of game shows with vaults in them (Deal or No Deal and Million Dollar Money Drop, respectively).

Good one in mind: “Not Rossi Morreale”…

Same John who posted earlier. I agree with you Scott about Anderson. He was the perfect host for the original edition The Mole in 2001-2002, until ABC 86ed him for Ahmad Rashad (of Caesar’s Challenge) for the celebrity version in 2003-2004 & Jon Kelley who did the most recent updated civilian version in 2008 which was ok but missed the suspense that Anderson provided.

  • Chris says:

ABC wanted to keep Anderson Cooper, but his contract with CNN pretty much put the kibosh on that ever happening.

  • Marko Polo says:

Didn’t Anderson quit on his own because of his contract with CNN? I don’t remember Anderson being fired…

  • John says:

Same John as first post. Scott & Marko: Anderson didn’t get fired from ABC. He left the Mole in 2001 & said that “2 seasons of the Mole was enough and after 9/11 happening, I thought I needed to get back to the news.” Also, I agree with you Scott & Marko, that Anderson would make a good host for this game show of trivia, suspense, & strategy. The only other game show host that I might consider for this besides Anderson are: either Chris Tarrant (The Colour of Money) or Mark Walberg (Russian Roulette & The Moment of Truth). Any other ideas?
