Haha, good point GH. It has been speculated for some time and the producers were quoted a couple months ago saying that they were throwing around the idea. But for right now, it's just an educated guess.

As for ratings, I think that the premiere will recieve high ratings due to curiosity. I don't think they will be high for very long.

TAR is past it's prime, and it needs a good few twists. I like the marked for elimination that they have this season, though I haven't seen it played out, I just read about it.

I think the opposite will be true. The All-Star Amazing Race will not destroy this show any more than Survivor's All-Star series. The ratings are going back up for two reasons: First) because the show is going back to it's roots -- that is, teams of two going to see the world, and Second) because the new twists are making the game more exciting now than ever. Giving up all your possessions is tough, being "marked for elimination" is tougher.

As for the guy who said that each network only needs 1 or 2 reality shows. I agree, but get rid of Survivor or Big Brother -- The Amazing Race is one of the best reality shows that has ever aired, because the teams are really racing. That's what makes it exciting to watch.

Expanding on what Brian said in his post...

On Survivor, the previous winners were targetted immediately, and the nature of the game allowed the players to do this. Nobody wanted to see them win a million again. On the Race, you have to be a lot more cunning and work outside the framework of the game if you want to obstruct a team - or use a Yield. But the primary assurance of success is positive work on your part - you'll have a harder time forcing a team down to last place and elimination.

Therefore, I think it's very likely that you will see a repeat winner in an All-Star edition; unless they choose to gloss over every single team that has already won one million dollars.

It's Charla and Mirna. TVGasm is using the nickname (unaffectionatly) given to them by the two fat dudes that quit TAR5.

Ever since Season 7 the show has lost it's charm. The had too many seasons too close together. In my opinion, they should skip a season so we don't have to deal with overexposure. TAR6 and TAR7 were only a couple weeks apart, and TAR7 and TAR8 were only a couple months apart. While it was really original to begin with, it's just become to much. They should call it The Ad-Nauseum Race.

As for an All Star season, I don't think it will be as bad as Survivor or Big Brother. All Star shows generally do poorly because of the way the game is played. In Survivor, everyone knew how quickly they could be voted out so everyone played under the radar. In Big Brother, well, they just had a sucky cast. Because of the way that TAR is played, I don't think it will be too terrible.

I think its time this show went off the air. Its had its run and they need to make game shows not necessarily a copy cat to deal or no deal but some kind of game show. there are just too many reality shows on tv. i think one or two per network is alright but more than that is too much. so some reality shows need to go.

I think this will give a little boost to the ratings because it could bring back people who stopped watching for whatever reason, because people will want to see their favorite teams get one more chance at that $1,000,000. I must also say that I'm happy that they got rid of the lose everything for finishing last on Non-Elmination Legs rule, but the "marked for elimanation" rule is a neat little twist, that hopefuly will carry over to AR11

The lack of international destinations killed the Family Edition, but only that season. Ratings are certainly back up for the Race. Having an All-Star edition certainly wasn't a problem for Survivor (I mean, Rob and Amber owe the fact that they're complete reality TV whores now to it).

They may decide that this is a good way to end the series (note the fact that they haven't renewed it beyond 11, though CBS has never been quick on giving new seasons a go); if so, full marks to them. I'll be disappointed because I think it's the best reality series on the air right now, but at the same time, it'll be a good way to go.
