Did you know Temptation had a three day crappy tournament this week?  No?  Neither did we.  Did you care?  No?  Neither did we.

Yea, the winner wins $100,000(In Temptation $$$ of course).

  • Lee says:

No, the winner of the tournament won $10,000 (in actual money).
Jim Perry, where are you when we need you ?

  • Mike says:

Jim Perry is 73 and retired. Why can’t we try to move on instead of thinking that bringing emcees who haven’t been in the public spotlight for almost 2 decades can improve a show? Bloated old Richard Dawson from 1994 anybody?

Fremantle screwed up Temptation. Changing the host doesn’t fix the game’s flaws.

  • J.C. says:

And a good reason why some of the good emcees haven’t been in the spotlight for 20 years is because the hosting jobs have been given to people who’ve had no game show experience whatsoever and, in some cases, never would again. Perfect example: Monopoly. Originally, I believe Peter Tomarken was slated to host, instead they get someone whose name escapes me at the moment to helm the show.

  • Lee says:

My “Jim Perry, where are you…” question was _supposed_ to be humorous.
And as if the poorly-promoted (read: not at all) Tournament wasn’t bad enough, today they had a “celebrity” edition with three former American Idol contestants.
    Yeah, I know…big whoop.

  • Mike says:

    Lee,

Imply you were attempting to be funny next time. If you’ve been on any game show message board, then you’d know there are a number of people who’d cry that the original version’s host is the ultimate fix to a bad show, not that the game is severely flawed.

  • Wheelloon says:

NO new host could fix Temptation at this point, and in the same breath, as the season’s gone on, though Rossi isn’t perfect, I think he has improved *maybe it’s my school work load, if so, just tell me.*

The same could be said of Ty Treadway, though I think his progress has been a bit slower, as he still remains a bit too robotic. Rossi, at least, through recent shows I’ve seen, has come off a bit looser than in the beginning, and runs everything a bit smoother. If the gameplay was better, itself, I think I could see Rossi also doing better, but I could be wrong…

  • LaJuan says:

I applaude Wheelloon for actually continuing to watch Temptation. There showing the AI “celebrity” editions AGAIN!?!? Maybe that means we’re near the end of the season *Praise Moses* I haven’t watched a single episode since week 1 b/c I just did not like the new format, but I felt Rossi would do fine. According to Wheelloon, he has therefore I’m happy.

I also aggree with da’loon about Ty. His improvement has been slower, but he’s getting the job done.

Now if only Temptation’s gameplay could improve…….

The person you are thinking of J.C. is Michael Reilly. I think the only exposure he had was being a contestant on Jeopardy. Why him anyway?

  • Ohio WxMan says:

    What is Temptation? :-) j/k

  • Ryan says:

Personally, Wheelloon, I think Treadway is exponentially better than Rossi.

  • Nikolai says:

About the “Monopoly” host, I don’t get why Merv Griffin had to go out of his way to get a different host. He did that because it was originally intended to be a syndicated show, but not enough stations signed on. That’s why it was scheduled back to back with “Super Jeopardy!” on the ABC primetime schedule in the summer of 1990.

  • Pierre kelly says:

Where did those 3 contestants come from?

  • Lee says:

And not only that, but they’re having ANOTHER tournament this week!

  • Mikeyboy says:

If Temptation wants to see another season, much less another T of C (ya sure this weeks strip of shows isn’t a repeat?), Fremantle will have to do something completely radical: respect the original version of a show (much like the 89-90 version of Joker’s Wild did midseason when they reinstated the categories on the wheels and brought back the money scale now at 25-50-100 dollars). Did anyone in the staff of this show see the Aussie version, or for that matter, the original SOTC? I highly doubt. My suggestions for revamping the show:

    1. Respect the proven format: add more general questions (sure, it’s a shopping game, but SOTC was a darn good quizzer in its Jim Perry days) and the real Fame Game/Who am I format with the choice from the board (adding the Burglar, Lockout and Turbo). Also, add the Vault as the Instant Cash and make the prize (like in Auz) a random amount, say, from $100 to $5,000.

    2. Stretch the game to the end of Act 3 (at least): make sure there’s something competitive to keep the viewers tuned in after 16 minutes on the clock (really only 8 of actual game play). The current Super Speed Round ($10 per question but still for 30 secs.) is just a doubling of the stakes on the first one, and Super Knock-Off is rarely successful.

    3. No five game limit and only one prize to show for it: one of the main reasons SOTC/Aussie Temptation were popular was in trying to see if someone could go the distance and take the jackpot. Speaking of jackpots…

    4. Put some CASH into the game: a $50,000 jackpot on deciding to play on after win 1, with a Top Ten bonus round to add as much as $25,000 for 10 right in 60 secs (maybe with a consolation of $1000 for each right answer if 10 isn’t reached). You ain’t gonna be able to pay the taxes on that African Safari if you rely solely on Temptation dollars to do so.

Please, someone, anyone, FIX THIS GAME NOW!!! (And who says Pat Finn can’t do double duty from adding Temptation to The Big Spin (the California Lottery show)?)
