TBS Looks For New Text-In-And-Win Show

Posted by Alex Davis On October - 24 - 2006

Cynposis is reporting that after the test run of “Midnight Money Madness” (and madness it was), TBS is enterting development talks with Endemol to create a new show that will air earlier than midnight.  No word on anything yet whatsoever.  Let’s see if they can come up with something interesting and original for a change.  I’m kind of doubting it, though.

WHAT? Midnight Money Madness rocked so much. It needs to come back. Maybe if they changed a few things (just a few), it could air earlier than midnight. But saying that maybe “they can come up with something interesting and original for a change” is just mean. I doubt you’ve even watched the show for more than 5 minutes.

MMM did far from rocking. They tried to bill it as funny, but it wasn’t. I adore crude humor with a passion, but this stuff was just dumb. Changed a few things? How about not stealing basically every game and idea from Playmania? Yes, I know Playmania is a ripoff of foreign versions, but it’s the first US version. Therefore, it gets credit for being the original in US. I watched several several episodes trying to pick up some money, and it blew horrendously.

We have nothing better to do at work but talk about things like this… I heard a lot of complaining about the 1-900 number… Apparently a lot of phone providers automatically block 1-900 numbers (at least where I live… Time Warner is like the leading phone so that may have a big issue.)… Other than that… “What’s Midnight Money Madness?” (Get the idea?) —Smells a rotting show—

…Also forgot to say it makes it hard to play when the only means is via TBS.com and when you go there, the website says the show is not on the air… Lots of lovely E-Mails to the hosts telling them to get the website going! haha

Well, I liked it a lot and I miss it already. It’s ok to say that you didn’t like it, or even that you hated it, but I don’t think that you can say that a show is bad or that it blew. In my mind, it’s all subjective, it’s a matter of opinion. It’s not a fact that the show blew. Anyway, let’s agree to disagree vehemently :)

I thought it was very funny, the hosts were great… yes, the games were kind of easy, like every text-in/call-in game that has ever existed in the world. PlayMania is really boring. I used to love it, but once I saw MMM, I had a new favorite show. By the way, the producers of Midnight Money Madness say that the show will come back in some form some day on some channel.

If you are one of those states…then you cant call. And most cell hones dont allow 900 numbers. MMM was a great show. and It was funny. Some of you just need to grow a sense of humor. I’ve watched PlayMania. MMM games have their own originality to it. They have soo many different ones. It should be brought back. Even if it just takes a name change.

My Only Comment on “Instant Recall”

Was it just me or was Instant Recall pretty tough?  If that’s what GSN thinks a tongue-in-cheek retro-style game show is, no wonder they are having so many problems.  It looks like a bad cable access show.  I feel bad…
