Posted by Alex Davis as Crosswords, Family Feud, Jeopardy, Syndication, Temptation, Wheel of Fortune, Who Wants to be a Millionaire?
A good majority of the syndication debut dates for the new and returning game shows were released today, thanks to Mark Berman. Here are the shows debuting on Monday, September 10th:
Let’s Play Crosswords
Temptation
Wheel of Fortune
Who Wants to Be a Millionaire?
Noticeably missing are Jeopardy! and Family Feud. Correct me if I’m wrong, but Jeopardy! and Wheel of Fortune generally debut on the same day, so I’d expect September 10th for that as well. However, for Feud, your guess is as good as mine. To my best knowledge there has been no 100% confirmation of renewal, although we are receiving rumors that they are looking at new places to tape next season, so don’t be completely surprised for a renewal there. We still don’t know a single thing about Crosswords, though, which is a bit strange. We should be receiving word of the host and more in the next few weeks, according to our friends at Program Partners. We’ve also heard some reports that things aren’t going that smoothly on the set of Temptation, so I’d cross your fingers.

I have this strange feeling that Crosswords will be an instant hit for some reason…
Temptation not running smoothly…not surprised. But I’m confident that it will mostly be ironed out by showtime.
I heard that Debmar-Mecury had Family Feud sold to 38 of the top 40 markets a few weeks ago….but you don’t have to take my word for it.
Eww.

A previous post you had mentioned that *Family Feud* was cleared for 85% of the country and 49 of the top 50 markets for next season. I’m thinking an announcement is being put on hold until we find out whether John O’Hurley will be the host of *TPiR* or not. I also wonder if *Feud* has an emcee in reserve if O’Hurley jumps to Studio 33.
I can imagine friction in regards to *Temptation* — you probably have two sides fighting it out over the direction of the show, budget, etc. One side wants to do it the way the 80s *Sale of the Century* did it — returning champions, halfway decent prizes, perhaps a big-money jackpot for winning 15-20 games in a row. The other side would rather see the “Gen Y” look emphasized over what made SoTC great, meaning you’ll have bean-counters demanding no returning champions, a $5000 max payout to the winner, and chintzy prizes only a stoned-out college student would love. I also have a funny feeling that Rossi Morreale (sp?), who was tapped to host this, may be struggling in walkthoughs.
I wouldn’t be nervous when it comes to *Crosswords*. I’m guessing Griffin and Program Partners want to keep details of the host, where it will tape, and possible tinkering to that, er, pilot, until they are absolutely ready. I’d rather have them ready than do a rush job.

I thought I read sometime ago that Feud was renewed through 2008, but that was some time ago.
Wishing the best on “Crosswords” and “Temptation”, and sincerely holding out hope that Fremantle won’t screw this up like they have in the past (Card Sharks 01 memories).

You know, why don’t people realize that it was PEARSON, and not Fremantle that screwed up Card Sharks ‘01! As in, Pearson TV was still in charge at the time before Fremantle swallowed it up.
Anyway, if the “cards” (if you will) fall the right way, the ‘07-’08 game show season is going to be huge!
In spite of the fact that Bob will be retired.

Any clue how you can audition for Temptation? One of my friends said they saw an online posting….then again mayeb they think they won’t make it past their 13 weeks….

Incorrect, Mr. *ahem* Intelligent. Pearson changed its name to FremantleMedia in August 2001. Production on Card Sharks surely started before 8/01, but the entire Card Sharks run happened after the name change.

The one thing we don’t know about ‘Crosswords’ yet is the host. Is it a man or woman? Who will be the host for “Let’s Play Crosswords”?

Oh, I see. Hey, the shows did have the Pearson tag, but yeah, their name was changed after that. I usually don’t mix that that up, silly me.
XD
Hey, I am Intelligent, I just used up my “One Free Mistake,” so don’t chide me!

I hope we go to the 80s SOTC format. It would be a lot of fun. I wonder what would happen if you used your own money to buy everything on stage.

I can hear it now… (drum riff from SOTC ‘83) Jay Stewart Soundalike: “Today on America’s biggest bargain sale, we’re offering a 2008 Mercades-Benz valued at $84,250 for $450! A 20-ft. cabin cruiser valued at $61,456 for $385! Two of the incredible bargains on Temptation, the new (echo) Sale of the Century! (cut off echo) And now, here’s your host, Rossi Morreale!” (sp?) Maybe they’ll remix the SOTC ‘83 theme. BTW, what does the Debnar-Mercury logo look like?

Just heard that casting is TONIGHT!!!!!! THURSDAY AUGUST 23RD, BETWEEN 6-10PM. AT BEVERLEY GARLAND HOLIDAY INN, HOLLYWOOD. LOCATED ON VINELAND BETWEEN VENTUA AND MOORPARK ST.That is all the information I got, it was passed on by a girlfriend of mine who tried out last night for it (she said there wan’t that many people there last night, so apparently their advertising for try-outs was not that successful!)
I’m going, so good luck to you all! I know I love shopping, I hope I make it, I feel “tempted” already!
