Sneak Peek of Steve Harvey on “Family Feud”

The new season of Family Feud has been taping in Orlando for the past few weeks with new host Steve Harvey.  Excited to see what the show will be like with him at the helm?  Take a look at some previews @Family_Feud posted to their YouTube page.  I don’t think I can feel better about Steve taking over the show.  He’s phenomenal.  It’s great to be getting back to the days of poking fun at contestants for bad answers.  The show’s in perfect hands.

  • Family Feud says:

    Thanks for posting these clips!
Yes, we are having a lot of fun…and are looking forward to a great season.

  • LAtheDJ says:

I was never a fan of O’Hurley as he came across as way too dry for The Feud. Steve Harvey is the solution!

  • Julia says:

It looks like you had loads of fun taping these. While I think Steve Harvey is a funny man, I’m gonna have to see how you edit these together to see how I like him as a host. From these clips, he just seems a bit harsh for me.

BTW- Why get rid of the question when the two people at the podium fail to get an answer on the survey? The other versions used to go to the next person in each family to answer. Is it just a matter of timing? I’d think it would just be easier on the staff if you didn’t have to stop tape and just keep the show flowing.

    • Paul says:

Since Louie Anderson’s tenure as host, it’s been part of the rules to throw out a question after both contestants fail to give an answer that made the survey. I guess they edit it out and tag the “Portions of the game not affecting the outcome have been edited” at the end on the show.

      • Kevin $ says:

I thought that too, but not true. I came across a GSN rerun with Richard Karn and this happened (one of the ONLY times I’ve ever seen it happen since Louie started hosting) and the two people at the didn’t answer anything on the board and they went to the families, like the old “Family Feud”. So it hasn’t been in place since Louie was host (although the video games have done that), but Idk how long it has. I always wondered this same question until I saw it one day!

  • Brent T. says:

So glad they put out a few clips. This is exactly what I was talking about before. Steve will give “the look” if your answer its bad. I’m going back for more tapings tomorrow & Sunday. I’m hoping for many more clips including the questions that got thrown out during the first two shows of day 1 so I can experience it all over again. This really could end of being the best ever season of the Feud

  • MrQuiz says:

Could he be the second coming of Richard Dawson…only MORE so? Tune in, and find out!!!!

  • Devin de Gruyl says:

No comment yet about Steve Harvey, though I do like what I see so far, but I will say this: This looks to be my favorite iteration of the modern Feud set to date. I love that new Face-Off podium, and the use of rounded boxes as a design element is a very nice “retro” touch that this old-school fan appreciates.

    • Devin de Gruyl says:

Just to clarify: The reason I have no comment yet about Steve Harvey is because these clips all look to be outtakes, stuff that won’t be seen on the actual episodes. And I can’t judge what isn’t in the final product, because in the end that’s what people will see, and thus remember.

  • David says:

Very interesting clips. It’s early, to be sure, but I like Steve’s style. It’s nice to have a good-natured laugh, and I’m sure the contestants know it’s not meant to hurt them. Should be fun to see what actually makes air come September!

  • Devon says:

LOL! I enjoyed those. Thanks for the laugh.

  • ten96lt says:

Now when they throw the answer out, do they permanently throw it out or do they recycle it and use it on a different game?

  • Mike Bode says:

Steve actually reminds me a lot of Dawson in certain senses. He has a similar carefree and casual style of hosting, he’s not afraid to tell it like it is, and he likes to go off on tangents. The thing that slightly concerns me is that these clips seem to be “outtakes”, judging by the fact that we see stagehands coming on camera, and Harvey starts talking about mistakes he made. I hope that they’re not going to edit out most of his funny moments from the final aired product.

  • abric pitt says:

I did watch the O’Hurley and it just didn’t work for me. But I am a huge fan of Steve Harvey, and this is the breath of fresh air Family Feud has needed in a long time.

  • No 94 Themes? No Bankroll? I Still Dispointed

    • Mike says:

Then don’t watch. How does a theme and playing for a variable amount of money which could (and usually is) less than the base $20,000 make for better viewing?

  • Owen says:

I like the Ray Combs version the best followed by Dawson,O’Hurley,Karn and Anderson Too early to pass judgement on Steve Harvey

  • DT says:

Now…I laughed hard at these…If they leave as much funny in as they cut out, Steve Harvey will go far. Now if only we can get Feud on a f-ing station in Pittsburgh that won’t relegate it to middle of the night status or not at all….You listening WPXI…Let another station take the show and treat it with some respect.

      • Family Feud Moved to Another Station or KDAF in Dallas?

        • DeVares says:

I hate that it’s still on KSHV here in Shreveport, but at least it’s still on here so I can’t really complain.

      • HomerJay says:

And Phlly, too, though I would have to say it’s less a case of a station keeping it from someone else (WTXF in our case, and I would imagine in the ase of WPXI as well) as simply not having someone willing to give it a better slot anywhere.

This run of Feud has been banished to th graveyard almost its entire time in our city. First on the invisible WGTW, then on weekend overnights on WPHL, one decent daytime clearance on KYW, but sadly paired with the wretched Crosswords, and then banished to 4 am on WTXF. I’m glad its on at all so I can DVR it, and that I also have an option on cable of WFMZ out of Allentown in a non-vampire slot.

  • DeVares says:

Shoots his gun….we all knew what he was talking about, Steve. lol. I’m now looking forward to the new season already.

  • Emanuel says:

I enjoyed these outtakes. It’s to early to judge Steve Harvey’s hosting, but from these clips it looks like the show is in good hands. Can we expect more outtakes soon?

And I must say the set looks VERY NICE! I’m glad you guys at Family Feud kept it traditional. A complete floor + no audience behind the board = WIN!

Also is Burton Richardson still the announcer?

    • bmhedgehog says:

Yes, he is, but his voice is only recorded once and played over again when needed cause he is not there.

  • Jack says:

I would like to say that I’m one of the people who think that this will be a downfall for Family Feud. Steve Harvey comes off as a dry host with an overextended head, (Personally, I would have liked him when he still had his full head of hair), The questions and the atmosphere IMO and no offense, are becoming ghetto an very poorly made. The new face-off podiums are a reminisince of the fallen WTC towers and the classic atmosphere is just no longer there. I wish they used a circle for the face off podiums or retain the eggcrate podiums because I hate the new look of the new 9/11 twin tower like podiums, I say that it looks very depressing and disappointing. I’m sorry to say, but I really think Feud sadly will be going down the toliet and things will start looking towards cancellation. While everything except for the face-off podiums look decent albeit without the classic eggcrate look and the car is still there, I’m not giving Steve Harvey a good outlook, Sorry.

    • Brad D. says:

      lol “ghetto”?

::rollseyes:: Oh Please. And it’s obvious why you used that word but I’m not going to go there.
The questions are of the exact same nature as they have been for years and the fact that you related the podiums to 9/11 is VERY overboard.

With the videos showing how much Steve jokes around with the contestants, I can’t see how anyone can call him dry.

      • Mike says:

So we have ghetto (let’s break it down, OMG A BLACK HOST!!!), no 1994 theme, no bankroll (which was just used last year as Bullseye but hey, let’s complain to complain), and the most ridiculous thing I’ve read on a game show board in close to 5 years–the World Trade Center podiums. Nothing will make you people happy.

World Trade Center podiums? I bet you crap your pants in fear whenever you see the number 11.

        • DeVares says:

Amen, Mike. plus, at Jack, nobody uses eggcrate scoreboards anymore, so why Feud should be different? And as far as this whole 9/11 and ghetto thing, get some help.

    • HomerJay says:

The twin towers? Seriously? Not every pair of rectanglular shapes is somehow an echo of the twin towers. It’s just two rectangles. Nothing more.

And as for the “ghetto” stuff….meh, not even worth dignifying.

  • Joey says:

I like the videos that have been posted, but I also can’t get the thought out of my head that most of this stuff will be cut out and never make it to air. Throwing out the question because both contestants don’t get it is stupid, just go to the next person in line. I think Steve will do a good job as host, now whether or not the editing shows this is yet to be determined. Also, what’s going on with the new podiums? I don’t know if I like them yet.

  • John says:

why does it seem like the top portion of all the podiums look like ice cream sandwiches?

  • CJ says:

Can I ask, why you’re STILL using that horrid 30-second loop of the Combs theme? I’m talking to whoever thinks it’s a good idea to start up the main theme for a face-off and abruptly cut it off with a cymbal hit.

PLEASE, use the full Feud library, or go back to the JLP theme.

Other than that, I look forward to the new season.

  • ????? says:

A post on Invision says Burton isn’t announcing Florida Feud this season .Joey Fatone of N’Sync and the NBC version of Singing Bee is the new announcer. I don’t suppose this means that Burton will be doing TPIR fill-ins this season, either.

  • Burton will be doing Family Night: a new game show on The Hub.

  • Angie says:

Hey, I attended a taping two weekends ago and it was great! Steve was hilarious, especially to this one family that was there. He killed us with the jokes he was making to them. I was just wondering if there’s gonna be a Big Money Tournament this season, like how there was with all the O’Hurley seasons?

  • shelly young says:

we were a part of the universal studios filming in August and really loved it! The show was running few hours late, but we would have waitied for some ride that amount of time anyway. Steve Harvey was wonderful. He will make a great host- and give the show what it needs, some colorful humor:) Thank you for the opportunity to be a part of the audience and sneak peek of the show.

  • jst... says:

I can not understand why Steve thinks he has to adjust every ones tie, this really makes me sick every time he puts his hands on the people ..He is not the tie expert. And why he has to make the people feel bad when they give a bad answer ..going on and on and on is a big turn off… O’hurlly was much classier, sweeter . kinder…Bring back sweet louie Anderson GOD BLESS HIM… Bad Bad Bad Host…

  • Dave says:

Why are all the Family Feud shows reruns?
