Samantha Harris Guest Hosts “Millionaire” During Week of May 11th

samanthaharris_mg_1183r1lrThe second guest host during this season of Who Wants to be a Millionaire? will be Samantha Harris.  For those of you who don’t know who she is (I had to look her up too, don’t worry), she’s the co-host of Dancing With the Stars as well as a correspondent for The Insider.  She’ll be filling in for regular host Meredith Vieira from May 11th through May 15th.  Previously, So You Think You Can Dance host Cat Deeley sat in the hot seat and gave hosting a shot to mixed results from the fans.  Let’s see how Samantha does.

Don’t forget that Famous Names week is airing all this week.

Would rather see Tom Bergeron…but reserving judgment on Samantha. She’s likely to be more perky than Meredith, and they can edit out any goof-ups (for which she is renowned on DWTYS).

“Don’t forget that Famous Names week is airing all this week.”

Uh, what? This is the week after that week, according to your latest Millionaire article. >_>

  • Marc Power says:

She might do alright, she’s used to doing live TV, and wwtbam is taped so the pressure’s off. but I agree with Scott would rather see Tom Bergeron again.

  • Bob says:

We live the good’ol days of Tom Bergeron hosting “Millionaire”…

Tom rocks! Hope he returns too!!

  • Joe says:

I think she’ll be alright. Kinda difficult to rate her before she even comes on the screen. I’m just hoping she can do a good tease after a final answer is locked in.

  • TJ says:

The question is, will she reveal incorrect answer choices in no particular order? All kidding aside though, the job she does on Dancing with the Stars is rather dicey. I agree that this show being taped rather than live will allow her to have another try at avoiding some of her flubs, but I still think that her interperonsal skills leave much to be desired and I don’t have a lot of hope for her interviews of the contestants (ancillary though they are). I look forward to seeing how she does in this format. I would be interested to see Tom Bergeron guest host, but I think his talents would be wasted here as this show is neither humorous nor light entertainment, which in my opinion he does best.

Ehh…I’m watching her first show right now and I’m not impressed. She revealed a wrong answer and totally blew it. She just said “I’m sorry, that’s not right” rather flatly without any follow-up at all.

Interpersonally, she’s got her ups and downs. Whether time is an issue is anyone’s guess, but I’m still not impressed.

  • GSK says:

She sounds like the tram guide when I went on the Universal Studios Backlot Tour. No joke. When she said “Gainesville, Florida”, it was like the same voice.

Saw her first episode. Seems nice… but totally un-engaging.

I tuned out of her, and changed the channel. She doesn’t have any comfort in that seat at all. Im sure like all the other guest hosts, her Friday show will be better than her Monday show.

Just a little more gravitas would go a long way I bet.

  • RSB says:

I have tried to watch her hosting “Millionaire”, but she comes across as so insincere that I had to switch the channel and I am an addict of the show. Bring back Tom, pleeeease!

  • rgeller@gmail.com says:

I am very proud of Samantha Harris. She has a great rapport with the contestants as well as a good grasp of the game. She moves a little too quickly through the first five question by not acknowledging the players but that is my only very small complaint.
