Rumor Control: “That’s The Question” Season 2

This bit of news is a total surprise. According to Total Content & Media and 2waytraffic, GSN has renewed one of my personal new favorite shows, That’s The Question has been renewed for a new series of 65 episodes. The quote in full…

“”That’s The Question”, is also performing well with new deals in Finland, with Game Show Network in the U.S. where it has been re-commissioned for 65 episodes starting this summer and has just begun its first series of 60 episodes in the U.K.”

Now of course this isn’t official until GSN announces something, but it’s looking good. Again, it’s a rumor for now, but I’d be expecting an announcement during the TCAs on July 14th.

Checklist for GSN on this show:
1- Up the payouts maybe a tiny bit?
2- No more spelling or factual errors
3- Add more enthusiasm and excitement into the game
4- Have a nice set with an audience this time

    1. Maybe. This could follow Lingo’s pattern and go high-stakes.
    2. Who knows?
    3. I agree. Bob Goen was a lot more exciting and friendly when he was hosting WOF.
    4. Again, follow Lingo.

I really do not care for Bob Goen’s hosting style because he does not even let the contestants congratulates each other after playing the game. Also, it seems like he is a little too serious.

He might be a little tense, that’s all. Maybe it’s the producers. He’ll lighten up.

Very exciting news if this is true. Although it seems a little odd that they’re renewing this and also launching Camoflauge which sounds more than a little similar. As for the suggestions to improve the show - the payouts are pretty much par for the course as far as GSN originals go, and I wouldn’t mind if they just cloned the Dutch set, though I’ll agree that htey should add an audience. The spelling/factual errors were the biggest issue with the show of course, but I have confidence that they’ll fix that.

And of course I didn’t spell-check the last post, so I guess I have no right to talk about TTQ’s spelling mistakes. :D

I knew TTQ would get an honest shot. It’s a very good game. Yes, the payouts should go up and the so should the excitement level, but this is great news!

If there’s going to be an improvement to TTQ, it’ll be in the form of boobs…and as for your checklist, here is what I think the knuckleheads at GSN will say about it.

    1. Nah, let’s make things even cheaper. Instead of giving actual cash, let’s give out food stamps!
    2. Durrr….
    3. Let’s drab everything up even more.
    4. Audiences? We don’t need no stinkin’ audience! Canned applause works much better! Also, let’s get rid of everything nice on the set, grab some cardboard, and paint it with those paints that go away when you put water on it!

Feel free to jump all over this but if it were my call I’d give the winning contestant $5 per point so most winning contestant would pick up between $300-$500 and let them play for 10 times that in the bonus round.

    *stares at Measles* (shakes head)

    1. Agree
    2. Agree
    3. Agree, but thought that was fine before
    4. Agree

Props to GSN for bringing back a great concept. NOW, let’s hope they don’t CR it and have an hour block of WTF…

  11. 11 Greg May 25th, 2007 at 10:09 pm

GSN must do what is right and add more cash!

  12. 12 Alex Davis May 25th, 2007 at 10:28 pm

More cash isn’t necessarily right, but the constant $5,000 games are getting sickening. I always remember how old originals had big potential payouts but the bonus rounds were hard to win. Now we’re stuck on easy games to win with low prizes. What’s so hard about doing it the Dutch way.

On win 1, if you lose the bonus, you take a smaller cash prize and go home. If you win the bonus, you win a decent amount money and have the option to leave with your money or come back the next show. The next day, if you lose the game, you lose your money and go home with nothing. If you win the game bus lose the bonus, you lose 1/2 your money and go home. If you win the game and the bonus, you double your money. You have the option to play on one more time. Of course the network won’t do returning champs for some reason I will never understand. I would love to a have a larger money yet hard to win bonus game. Can we do that maybe? Let’s hope.

I think the returning champs problem has less to do with the game than it does with the broadcast. By having self-contained shows (or weeks as Millionaire does), you can choose the order of airing, so you can manipulate the schedule to have favorable episodes to occur during sweeps without fear of continuity. Just my 2 cents.

If points=seconds, why can points=dollars, too? You play for $100xyour score in the bonus and a smaller prize if you don’t win.

Just FYI: GSN runs their episodes in order now.

  15. 15 Measles! May 26th, 2007 at 2:20 am

Well, at least they’re doing something right (running the episodes in order)

  16. 16 Jordan Hass May 26th, 2007 at 2:03 pm

My Idea is to just raise it to play for $10,000…

Have No Question and No Answer…

But Keep Filling In The Question For $5,000
Then Solving The Answer For an Additional $5,000

    —–
    Failing would earn you Points X $10 ( 143 points = $1,430)
    ——

Also I agree with the audience part,

But Here’s Something I suggest they take out…

THAT DAMN LADY WHO HAS TO SAY “QUESTION”…

    “QUESTION!”
    “QUESTION!”

    Yes, I agree.

But what about Scott sterberg? He produces and distributes the show.

I mght get to hear the music to Scott sternberg again.
