This is as a rumor control right now. We got an email from a good friend of Buzzer who told us that Karn Feud was picked up by GSN, but they have no idea on the air times. Scanning, I saw that Mr. Beverly has it up as well, but nothing is official for me on this site until GSN confirms it, so check back on Monday. If they did, then wow. Maybe it was just me, but he was, without a doubt, the most non-funny, non-charismatic, terrible host that “Family Feud” has ever had. I believe I screamed the joy of Karn being fired from “Feud” a bit ago. Ah, yes I did.
For me, current host John O’Hurley really saved the show. He proved that there is someone who can be comical as well as a good host. And since O’Hurely ditched the jumping-at-the-repeat-buzzer gag, he’s become even better in such a short time. It’s really terrific. I’m not saying Louie Anderson was any better than Richard Karn. At least Anderson was semi-funny at least, and “Family Feud” hinges on a host who can take the funny out of a family. Instead, Karn took the funny out of the entire show and dragged it into an incredible stop.

NOOO! This really doesn’t surprise me considering it’s GSN. The only good I can see with this is that they are really trying to get further in Fremantle’s door…. maybe pick up TTTT2k or second runs of Temptations or old SotC? One can only hope some good comes out of this.
But to the average fan, i can see why they could say Karn was better (I’m shooting myself as I type this one). I’ve had it on a couple times in our university student center, and people have commented that O’Hurley is stiff and uncomfortable compared to Karn (or Al as they put it). Karn really had more of a recognition factor with people I’ve been around compared to O’Hurley. I personally would take O’Hurley over Karn any day…. he’s brought class and funny back to the Feud.
Is there any news on filiming for upcoming episodes or changes now that John O’Hurly is playing King Arthur in “Spamalot” in Las Vegas? They started last week with rehearsals running 5-6 days a week, plus about a ten show a week performance schedual starting in March.
I think he would be awfully tired to continue hosting at the same time. Or is the show pretaped so far in advance that it won’t matter. OR are they done taping for the season…. just questions to ponder
Well, I assume that FF is taped 5 shows in a day like most half hour game shows. That wouldn’t conflict with John’s schedule with Spamalot. I would assume it might affect next season’s tapings, though. That is, if it’s remewed, since Debmar-Mercury has not announced a firm go for next year.
When I went to sit in the audience for feud when Karn was hosting, all shows were taped on Saturdays, the building it was in also had Judge Judy and Judge Joe Brown, which they said taped during the week.
This confirms that Ms. Julia is not only the most negative person on this blog, she apparently lives under a rock. Otherwise, she already would have known Feud has already been announced as a firm go for 2007-2008. The announcement was made about a week or so ago!
Couldn’t agree more about Karn as host. I liked him on Home Improvement…he was better than Louie…but he was not a good host. O’Hurley is getting more comfortable interacting with the families with each show. John brings the same charisma as Dawson. Now having said that, I don’t have a problem with GSN showing the Karn FFs…just to mix it up a bit. They definitely need to expand their daytime playlist. I wouldn’t mind seeing them run the Donny Pyramids or the Davidson or Kennedy TPIRs, either…just for variety’s sake. Heck, I’d really love to see them run some of Fremantle’s UK and Aussie versions of the American classics.
That would rock.
I saw this on TVGameShows.net as well. They confirm it’s to be put on-the-air first week in March on a 1-hour weekend block (Sat. and Sun.). They also said GSN will ‘demo’ the show during their midnight B&W block sometime soon, if not already.
