Return of the Living Dead: “Smartass”

Mark Walberg occasionally comes over here and reads.  Mark, if you see this somehow, please get ahold of Mark DeCarlo and make fun of him relentlessly for this pilot he “hosted”.  It’s called Smartass.  A giant talking cartoon donkey co-hosted and asked questions in a format I’m not completely sure about.  It’s only like a minute long clip.  But still, wow.

this donkey’s gotta get his facts straight

in Titanic as I recall, Jack (leo’s character) tried to get on the “raft” (actually it was a picture frame or something) but it tipped over with him and Rose on it,

and everyone knows Bob Barker is actually quite proficent with karate and etc. example: Happy Gilmore.

  • Ken C. says:

A wise Toronto late night host once said and I quote.
“I rather be a smartass than a dumbass”

    but he also said this.
“If you don’t have anything good to say, say it often.”

    ok.

Malcom must be rolling in his recycling bin.
    lol

Everyone is a lot of people, keep in mind. You can’t assume most people know about Barker and the karate bit except for maybe a few more people than just the game show fans. I’ve known it, and I still chuckled at his comment…

Of the three “spooky shows,” this one was the most tolerable by far, IMHO. This reminds me of something Comedy Central would’ve tried to pair up with Win Ben Stein’s Money back in the day.

Maybe it would’ve sold if it wasn’t for that strange lyrical ending theme, or that contestants *not sure* had to answer Jeopardy style in a clear rip-off.

/I just pray that it wasn’t a lack of airtime for DeCarlo that had the potential buyers bitching…

There was a second pilot done with a change to the format where it was teams of two that were playing against each other. It actually made more sense (and yes, it was still the talking donkey)…don’t know why the overall format doesn’t translate well as a viewer; as a participant, it was fairly easy to understand.

This doesn’t look TOO awful…I wish there was more than that brief clip available to judge it from.
