Report: Carnie Wilson Sues GSN For Additional Unearned Revenue from “Unstapled”
I think we know why Carnie Wilson isn’t hosting GSN’s The Newlywed Game anymore, or at least one of the reasons. Hollywood Reporter is saying in an exclusive report that the singer and television presenter is suing GSN for additional money she did not receive from her failed and critically panned reality show Unstapled. Reporter says that Carnie is seeking $277,500 from the network in additional pay.
HR says that according to the lawsuit Carnie was to receive $120,000 for 24 days of filming Unstapled, which came and went extremely quickly. Allegedly the shoot took 53 days instead and longer hours than initially intended. A spokesperson for the network says they don’t know anything about the lawsuit but Carnie’s lawyers are awfully chatty about it.
The network just can’t escape the show, can it? I’ve heard a new host for Newlywed Game is being decided soon (I wouldn’t count on Bob Eubanks…just a feeling) so they can move on soon hopefully. So yeah it’s not good news for the network but I’ve seen more actual big media attention towards them and one of their shows in recently weeks than ever before so that’s something. Hopefully it gets resolved quickly for them.

Surely he’s available, if you can pry him away from the “Smoking Gun Presents…” shows on TruTV for a few weeks.
If not Roger Lodge may I suggest Jason Stewart? after all, what IS he gonna do with the other 21 hours he’s not producing The Jim Rome Show?
What an interesting twist – the time the host is suing instead of being sued. Who knows how this will end up?
Will Unstapled end up being GSN’s biggest, most costly disaster after all?
Sure looks that way to me right now. Hopefully it discourages a third try at the idea.
They deserve every Whammy that comes at them. WIth record numbers of people being banned from the GSN site for having “too many oodles”, or other issues that might not be Terms of Service violations, I can’t feel a bit sorry for them.
Not to mention that their programming lineups sucks more than ever. This network can’t get it right.
The Hub will be the channel to watch come this fall! :D

Way to go, GSN! This is the ULTIMATE icing on that big cake of FAIL you’ve served up to your (abandoned) audience over the last year or so. It couldn’t happen to a nicer Goldhill.
This is the ultimate insult for GSN; the show was an epic fail (only surpassed by Hidden Agenda, and not by very much), and now they’re being sued by Crying-for-the-Pantry Woman for more money. This would make a better show than Unberable, er, Unstapled lol!
In all seriousness, though, this should be the FINAL word on reality shows on GSN, seeing as though both times they pissed off the subject (Chuck Woolery’s relationship with the network never recovered from Naturally Stoned, either) and eventually drove them away (though I’m not sad for Whinie’s departure). Though I doubt it will provoke change at the top; only a miracle will see that happen.
One question: Who the *BLEEP* isn’t surprised by this? GSN has been mediocre at best since 2002, although they are improving as of late. But this can’t be good PR wise either Sony, Liberty Media, or the network in general. Damage control (if I’m GSN), settle out of court because this could get ugly and fast.
I’m not surprised by this. GSN has been sucking so badly as of late. I haven’t watched in months (doing just fine without it, thank you very much).
I pity anyone who even thinks about defending David Foolsgoldhill, and Kelly No Goode.
