The 658,500 cans was pretty funny. They must have had the clean-up crew from Double Dare come in and pick them up during the break :-P
Anyways, I don’t know if anyone else figured it out for themselves, but 658,500 cans at 5 cents apiece (the refund for bringing a single can in) comes out to be much more than $20,000. In fact, it’s $32,925. What a gyp! :-D

I think this is how they figured it out…it’s not exact now, but might have been when they taped..
They took the price for aluminum per pound and divided whatever the offer would be by that amount. They then multiplied by 33 (the average number of cans per pound) and probably rounded off..That number of cans is just under 20,000 pounds in weight (19954.54 lbs), so at a just over dollar per pound when the show was taped (It’s about $1.17 right now), there’s your $20,000 offer..

to david: (sarcasm) Nerd alerrrrt!!
I wasn’t expecting soda cans I figured that box was gonna be full of pennies or quarters or something. hey that’s something they could do one day after all 1,000,000 pennies is $10,000 I cans eriously picture Howie saying “The offer is ONE MILLION…… pennies”

I thought, I thought the double contestants was pretty dumb. What a useless sweeps stunt!
The cans on stage was interesting at first but, it was a waste of time.
