Ratings Update: 7/12/2007

The ratings page has been updated with the debut of The Singing Bee and Don’t Forget the Lyrics!.  FOX’s new show didn’t debut as well as NBC’s, but both still did well.  The real question is which is better?  From what I’ve been reading over many places online and from opinions from people around me, it’s a rather mixed response.  Truth be told, I didn’t really love either of them, but NBC’s The Singing Bee was better.  They didn’t take it too seriously like FOX’s did.  Plus, Wayne Brady annoys the hell out of me.
NOTICE: ALL PAGES ARE ON THE TOP RIGHT CORNER OF THE SITE.  IT SAYS PROGRAM RATINGS.

I can’t find the ratings page.

  • Antony says:

    DFTL was better, IMO.

Interesting…I only caught the last few minutes of “Lyrics”, but I found Singing Bee much more enjoyable. “Lyrics” was nothing more than the same-old same-old that all the other primetime shows are doing. It’s more or less “1 vs. 100″ and “Are You Smarter Than a 5th Grader” meets karaoke night at the bar. I like “1 vs. 100″ but “5th Grader” moves at a snail’s pace IMO, and this show apparently moves at that same exact pace.

“Singing Bee” brought back memories of me watching “Name That Tune” reruns. Except, you get the tune, now you have to sing it. I just liked that it was a fun game show that’s something more than climb-the-money-tree-as-you-try-to-beat-the-house.

By far, Singing Bee was the superior show. With respect to DFTL… I don’t know how many times we have to see the same formula duplicated… single contestant, a money tree, with lifelines… for crying out loud, the selection of 9 categories smells of 5th Grader (replace Million Dollar Question with Million Dollar Song). It seem as if there is no imaginative bone in Fox’s body whatsoever. At the end of the day, the cash prize does not make the show… the game does.

Brandon, BTW, kudos, because Singing Bee reminds me exactly of Name That Tune. The Final Countdown is a fantastic version of the Golden Medley (a bit more forgiving with the 3 strikes element).

I also am very impressed on how Joey Fatone is as a host… his delivery was very smooth at times.

Bee was head and shoulders better than DFTL. I am part of the crowd that is sick of the money trees, phoney drama, and cheering section that is scarily becoming prevalent on many game shows today.
I am a saddened though, that many fans (such as on GSN and TWOP) don’t feel the same way- they like that sort of drivel.

  • KBGUY09 says:

Although dftl has the same “formula”, I like it a lot better. I don’t hear more than 2 or 3 lines per song in The Singing Bee, where in DFTL I get to hear a verse and a chorus usually. But everyone is entitled to their own opinion.

I am along with Antony, I can’t find the ratings page either.

  • Xavier says:

I am sorry Alex, but I see nothing at the top right hand corner. Maybe it’s just my computer.

  • Antony says:

    Me either.

  • Alex Davis says:

You seriously can’t see the thing that says PROGRAM RATINGS to the right of the logo at the top? You must have IE then. I seriously suggest getting Firefox anyway. But here’s the page and the contestant call page.

Now I have it. I went to my connection that has Firefox and it was there. I was using IE when I could not see it.

  • Antony says:

I’m good now. I put them in my long list of favs.
