Quickplay: “QI”’s Stephen Fry on CBS’s “Late Late Show”

Posted by Alex Davis On November - 5 - 2009

There were two reasons you should have watched The Late Late Show last night on CBS.  The first is that Craig Ferguson, the host, is without a shadow of a doubt the best late night host on TV currently (and has been for a while).  It’s the funniest show in America, easily the best late night talk show out there, and if you’re watching Jimmy Fallon instead for some reason you’re insane.  The second reason is that Stephen Fry, host of the incredibly entertaining UK comedy quiz QI was a guest discussing his new book “Stephen Fry in America”.  Here’s the interview.  Definitely watch it; Stephen’s one of the best.  The new season of QI starts on November 26th on BBC.  We’ll be sure to post some videos of it.

  2. Xavier Said,

David Letterman is the best we got right now. Craig is okay, but he can get annoying after a while.

  3. Kevin Said,

Kimmel is DEFINITELY the worst (not really including Daly anymore). Conan and Letterman are definitely the best, with Conan definitely being more fresh than Letterman. Craig is pretty good though…

Can't stand Craig… I don't think I could make it through his show even for Stephen Fry.

  5. Taylor Said,

Conan was better on Late Night. CBS has the two best right now in Letterman and Ferguson, though I wish Letterman would rely less on political humor.

And Stephen Fry is great – I was very excited to see him on American TV again! I wonder what he thinks about the lack of QI in the US; some of QI's best panelists have come from America (Rich Hall and Reg Hunter come to mind, with John Hodgman – the PC in the Apple ads – making an appearance in the upcoming G series), and I think the show would work very well here.

Craig Ferguson is fantastic! I watch him whenever I can. He has a very personal style, much like his good friend, Regis.

I watch Fallon becuase of mainly the Roots. I was in total shock when I heard that Fallon got the Roots to be his house band. They are great and are great since they are true hip-hop and not the mainstream crap rap that gets played on the radio constantly. Plus, Fallon treats new video game and tech device releases as other shows treat new movies and since I'm a big techie, it's a definite plus since no other late night show does that. And of course Fallon isn't as funny as Ferguson but Fallon's show is just more varied in terms of content and the Roots are a BIG BIG plus. Also Fallon has been improving a lot finding out what works and what doesn't, something that all late night hosts do in their first years and each week the show gets better and better. So yeah call me crazy but Fallon's show is definitely more for people like me (modern music lovers that are into tech).
