“Price is Right” Holding Survey

Surveys are apparently all the rage these days.  During today’s The Price is Right, I was told scrolling text at the bottom of the screen said they are holding a survey at the show’s CBS website which you can visit by clicking here.  Taking a look at the survey, it seems like they are just trying to gauge people’s opinion of how the show is doing now.  They are just about doing one of these a year it appears to see how fans are adjusting to the changes.  It’s no secret the show’s been changing since Drew Carey took over three years ago, and it’s a safe idea just to check.  The survey will ask you for opinions about the host, prizes, set, announcer, etc.  Basically if it’s on the show, they want to know what you think.

And I’ve got a feeling this survey won’t really do much good.  Why?  Who do you think is going to do the survey mostly?  Probably the Price is Right nerds who complain that a prehistoric music cue is not played for the appropriate game.  It’s going to be the crowd who loves to bitch and moan that their deity-level producer and former host aren’t there any more on a nearly constant basis.  So if you take it, I implore you to just be honest. They really don’t overwhelmingly care about the incredibly minute information a few seem to notice.  They just want to know what you think of the show right now and if they are going in the right direction.  Especially with people from here of all places, I expect only the best.

I'm taking the survey now in a different tab. It is, indeed, very thorough. Kudos to them!

GSN, take notes! THIS is how you do a survey — know exactly what you want to find out, and make sure you do so!

  • @palmercomm says:

I took it, it was mostly classification questions. Only 1 question asked about TPIR.

  • mrbrown2195 says:

Is it possible that you got a different survey? Mine was very extensive and asked several Price related questions… everything from my opinion on how Drew should dress, to the models, to the prizes… even gave me a list of words that could be used to describe the show, and asked which I agreed with.

Maybe some people get phased out if they meet certain demographics (age, location, etc.)?

  • Taylor says:

I got the same as you, Mr. Brown.

  • @palmercomm says:

I think it's because I said I watch Price rarely or never.

Yep, same as me. Nielsen does do some of those kinds of things with their surveys (in response to the voices the networks say they wanna hear most about), so that would be my guess.

Mostly positive reviews came from my end, I'm the happiest I've been with Price in probably a decade, at least. I'll continue to give them glowing reviews whenever I'm asked about them. :D

I took the survey; DEFINITELY more worth my time than the GSN one. It seems like they really care about what everyone thinks here, which makes me really happy.

  • Jay says:

I just took it, and gave thorough answers. I know they use these answers for research.

I'm about to take it, but I wanna state it here…I really think "The Price is Right", even though many games are super hard now and it's hard to gauge the price of some things like purses and dresses, is the best it's been since Drew started and possibly in the last ten years. There's an energy with it now that just wasn't there before, while still maintaining pretty much all the characteristics has always had. They are doing the best they can with what "Price" is. They're smart too. Rich DiPirro is doing AMAZING directing and Mike Richards and the team really are pinpointing keeping the show fresh and new, but never forgetting the past and "Price" 's history.

Best example is a few weeks ago. There was a safe given away as a prize and they used the SECOND Safe Crackers theme (not Pink Panther and not the current one) as the cue. BRILLIANT! Things like that are making the show truly watchable this season and I truly think they're on the right track.

    Now onto the survey…

It's too bad they didn't do something like this during the Barker years – maybe some of the lawsuits could've been avoided!

It's too bad they didn't do this while Bob Barker was still on the show – maybe Holly Hallstrom would have been on the show longer, as there was a lot of negative feedback given to Barker and the show when he fired her!

Awesome and thoughtful survey. Shows they care, and it was really telling that they were looking for specific input regarding Drew Carey

  • Daniel B. says:

I took the survey, told my honest opinion on the show (and how to fix it); I don't really care about the music cues, so that wasn't discussed.

Oh, and expect to see fur coats make a comeback! :-p

  • Hal says:

I'm taking the survey, but once I finished describing myself demographically (income, occupation, age, etc.) I see a window saying that says this:
    -
Microsoft OLE DB Provider for ODBC Drivers error '80040e57'

[Microsoft][ODBC SQL Server Driver][SQL Server]String or binary data would be truncated.

    /newsurveysystem/survey/DBLibrary.asp, line 755
    -
I feel that it's an error, but any reason why this happened? Also, what would the next page say?

  • Steve Gavazzi says:

I told them what a jackass Drew Carey is, how Mike Richards can't put together game lineups, and Kathy forcing losses in car games.

I am done watching it in June.

    Count me out

  • Stephanie says:

I took the survey last night, and I had nothing but positive things to say about the show, Drew, Rich and everyone

  • Daniel B. says:

…Because you're Rich Fields' PR representative?
