“Price is Right” DVD Early Information

TVShowsonDVD.com just posted a bit of information about the Price is Right DVD from BCI who also made the Match Game and upcoming Family Feud releases. The DVD will consist of 20 of the “craziest, funniest, and most memorable moments from 1972 to 2007.” BCI has stated that the actual master episodes have been chosen and are at the BCI offices currently. A tentative Spring 2008 release date has been announced, but you know that that could change very easily. To the left is an image of the box as it is currently. And like before odds are that it will change to something else. Maybe it’ll be just a huge image of Barker’s face to really make some of the “more passionate” Price is Right fans happy.

Fantastic! Another DVD to add to my collection. I wonder if it will be just those ‘moments’ and not the entire episodes.

I just bought the new (recently released) DVD game versions of PASSWORD and PRESS YOUR LUCK!
Password is OK; it could’ve been a little closer to the show, and not the box game. However, I’d bet the average PYL fan will be quite cheesed they ponied up $25 for a disappointing home version of maybe TV’s only true cult-classic game show.

Having said that, if the PRICE and FEUD DVD’s are anything like the MATCH GAME DVD which I also have, then that’ll be money well spent! (at least I think so, anyway)…

Sounds like a real winner to me.
I hope they load it up with tons of extras as well (like interviews with Roger Dobkowitz and Rich Fields, a retrospective on Johnny Olson and Rod Roddy, and maybe even a classic episode of Truth or Consequences that, in turn, could parlay into a Truth or Consequences compilation DVD).
If it sells well, I hope it’ll snowball into BCI releasing more classic game show compilations (like Password, Press Your Luck, or even $ale of the Century- even though BCI probably doesn’t have the rights to it).

I’ll try it again, Gene, since you totally missed it. The box art says “20 Priceless Episodes”. The page on TVShowsonDVD.com says 20 episodes. Do you need more proof, or are you complaining for the sake of complaining even though the answer was right in front of your eyes the entire time?

This is great, BUT I you gotta tell when they’ve released the regular Family Feud. I know, however, that first will come All-Star Family Feud.

FANTASTIC! Now if they can just get TRUTH OR CONSEQUENCES on DVD! Seeing those clips of Bob Barker’s other famous game show during his tribute made me sigh and said “God I wish they can put TRUTH OR CONSEQUENCES on DVD!”

I doubt there will be a The Best of The Price Is Right Volume 2 since this set fell short of the hoped-for sales.
