“Power of 10″ Sold to Several New Countries
It’s about time that the US has an export they can be proud of, isn’t it? A while ago it was announced that Australia’s Nine Network has picked up the hit CBS/Embassy Row game show Power of 10. Today came word that many different countries are getting their own versions. Such countries are Chile, France, and Germany. I know we have some Canadian fans of the show, so you’ll be happy to know that you will be able to see the show on Global, and the US version can be seen soon in South Korea as well. The French version will air on TF1.
Michael Davies, creator and executive producer, added, “Power of 10 was created from the outset with the international market in mind. It is simple, immediately engaging and about the entire nation, whether that nation is America, France, Latvia or any other country in the world that has citizens who disagree with each other. Every element of the format has been meticulously thought through and designed. We have already welcomed producers and executives from all over the world to our studios in New York and seen their powerful reactions to this format and how it is put together. We can’t wait to welcome more.”
New episodes of the show will be taping in New York City relatively soon and will be on most likely as soon as something bombs. What will it be? Who knows. I’m still waiting for something to bomb on NBC. It’s hard to keep up with failures on both networks; there are just so many.

It’ll be interesting to see how the top prize ends up being a differing amount of a given currency than 10m, as previously seen with Millionaire.
I predict us to get it next as the latest desperate ITV1 £1m game show.
Yeah, I’m interested about that too. I wonder whether Europe will go the 10-million-euro route or whether they’ll only offer 1m.
I know Korea is just airing the US version, but I wonder if it will ever get a version of its own…in that case, the top prize would have to be exponentially larger than 10 million won to be considered chunky money. (1,000 won = $1, roughly)
right now 10 million euro are like 14 million dollars… that way too much for any network, I believe. I think 5 million is doable.
Interesting about how fast this show is spreading. If they ever decided to do five episodes for a Canadian version, Colin Mochrie would do a good job. He’s already got the gig for the version of “Are You Smarter Than a Fifth Grader?”, which has yet to air on Global. Can’t wait.
I absolutely enjoy The Power of 10. I personally think that Kid Nation should be cancelled and the power of 10 on Wed 8/7 central time slot along with Sunday night at 8/7 central slot. This show is very entertaining and leaves you guessing thinking that you know the answers when sometimes you can be way off base. I really think that this show needs to have a DVD game, Plug In Play version, PC version, board game and be on some of the video game systems. I also am certain that some of the games I have came up with I feel that Michael Davies needs to hire me or even Endemol to add to there collection of games.
