Hey, did you remember Power of 10 started a new season today? I was away and couldn’t see it, but many of you were lucky enough to. What did you think? Any commentary of the new season can be thrown right in here. Regular updates resume again tomorrow!

I’m glad to say that Power if 10 has still got it going on. I won’t ruin things for those who tape-recorded it, but I will say that it’s still fast paced, the questions - with one in particular on Osama bin Laden - are still much more thought provoking than ones from Card Sharks (not that Crad Sharks wasn’t a good show!), and Player 1 still has to eliminate Player 2 while Player 2 has to eliminate Player 1. :)
I’m probably the only one who likes how Drews says that each time - I know it’s obvious and repetitive, but I just find it awfully funny, the same way that Ty Treadway says that “Crosswords” is “winner take all.” It’s like they’re trying to make a catchphrase out of absolutely nothing. Screen down. :)
Let’s hope that the return of of Power of 10 is a good sign for game shows of all sorts in 2008!

A modern-day classic returns. The elimination rounds are exciting and fast-paced, and Drew is more at home with the game. Unlike TPIR, he has no one (ghost of Barker) hanging over his head…the game is his. His honest banter with the contestants analyzing the questions really show his everyday appeal and his intelligence. He is unafraid to laugh at himself and really roots on the contestants and reflects what we are thinking (”it’s your money…that’s a lot of money…”) Great show, CBS…keep ‘em comin’
P.S. I could do with a few fewer “sex” questions….hey, kids are still up and they need to keep this family friendly.

Just watched it on CBS.com. The show is as great as always. Hugely entertaining, fun, and it’s the most dramatic of all the shows. The barrel roll is a much nicer and tenser dramatic effect than slowly opening a briefcase or taking 5 years to determine if an answer is correct or incorrect.
The only issue I have is the audience. I really love loud audiences, don’t get me wrong. But the shouting in the qualifier round always has me concerned. The audience can obviously see what the players are locking in on since the players themselves can. That’s a bit too risky for hints, even if they coach the audiences not to do it. Also, Drew and the contestant’s mic is at the same level as the audience and that makes it a bit tough. Just amp up Drew and the contestant’s mics and I’d be perfectly fine.
Other than that, incredibly happy to see it back. Hopefully the ratings are here and we can see a long long life for the show.

It’s great to see the show back! And there were NO CHANGES!! WOW! I love that. The game is still true to itself. I know Power of 10 was up against Deal or No Deal, and both shows had some great games!! I was able to catch a little bit of each one, back and forth.
But as for Power of 10, the show seems to go much smoother, and a lot more of the questions require you to think more. I felt the question that had to do with whether the Japanese make better cars than the Americans was tough. I’m around friends, including myself, who say Japanese made cars perform at a higher level, but when I saw the answer, I was a little surprised, but I felt the number was the right spot. Thought it would go a little higher.

I was in the audience for the second show ever taped and the only change I saw was that Drew said the audience could see what the two contestants were guessing during the head to head bout. Originally, they blacked out the monitors so you could not see what they chose until time was up. I wonder how they let the audience in on what was being selected without the contestant’s finding out. Perhaps Drew was wrong because once the time was up, you still heard the gasps from the audience when the guesses were locked in. That would indicate that the audience did not know.

Alex, do you know for sure the audience can see what they’re guessing during the elimination round?

YAY Power of 10! Very good return for the show. I, too, was flipping between good games on this and DoND, and the Power of 10 questions are getting more thought provoking. Believe you be, that’s a very good thing.

Is it just me, or did the set floor get a slight touch-up?
I’m surprised it didn’t fare so well against DoND. The questions were well-written and well-thought out, and that lady at the end who won $100,000 had me at the edge of my seat…she was cutting it WAAAAAYYYY too close on all her money questions, even the one she walked away from (good thing it wasn’t in her favor at that instant). That barrel roll is enough to make my heart skip a beat…not like the looooonngg, dragged-out case reveals of DoND or, even worse, Duel as a whole.
And Drew’s contestant banter was top notch! Can’t wait to see more!
