Quick question: How many of our BuzzerBlog readers have been on a game show? I know we have the Grand Slam people, Robert McKee’s been on a few, Nevelle was just on Crosswords, and we have a few Deal or No Deal contestants lurking around? If you haven’t been on one yet, how would you like a chance to play for $10,000,000 on CBS’s Power of 10? The show is returning sometime either as a Fall 2007 replacement or at midseason and Embassy Row casting executives have come here looking for contestants. I’d love to see one of you on Power of 10, so read below and get involved! Win $10,000,000 and tell them BuzzerBlog sent you!

I wanted to apply but according to the bullshit (pardon my french) with my health insurance, it gets revoked if I win anything. So for now I have to take a forced pass on it.

Are you serious? If you don’t mind me asking, why is that? I’m just curious, because that’s interesting and a bit dumb that you get health insurance revoked for winning money on a show like this.

Just a thought…BUtler might be on Medicaid, or some government plan that depends on a certain income level to qualify. If he won a certain amount on the show, it might push him over the limit.
Just a thought…
And I was about to sign up, but I did not have any good pictures of myself. I think I’m gonna have to get some, since it would be easy for me to make the trip up to NYC from Philly for the show.

I would but I’m Canadian and like most shows these days you ahve to be a U.S. Resident. If they make a Canadian version I’ll apply for it, I’d even think about applying for Are you smarter than a Candian 5th grader. So far the only show I’ve ever applied for is the Candian show: Inside The Box and I didn’t get called back.

When you say “they’ve come here” to look for contestants, what does that exactly mean?
Is the phone number only being published here?
Are they guaranteeing a certain number of contestants from people who visit this site?
Just wondering, you were not very explicit with that information.

They came here and started leaving comments and emailing me about contestant calls. Those only go on Craigslist usually, and they did hunt us down. I obviously can’t guarantee a contestant from here will be chosen, but if they are looking at this place and asking for contestants on here, I’d say you at least have a better shot than the random ass CBS route.

So Alex, having already applied and been given an interview even before the first episodes were shot, what do you suggest I should do with this (if anything)? No callback as of yet, obviously, so they either threw mine in the trash or were just more impressed with the others and put me on standby, I’d have to think…

Honestly, I’d call Embassy Row and ask about your status. Just make sure they know you exist and that you really want to be on it. Just make sure to get your name out there as much as you can. If they realize you are seriously wanting on the show and you display your enthusiasm plus your desire for this, there’s a decent chance you can make it. I’m sure you can.

I was on Weakest Link back in 2001. The Anne Robinson version.
When time permits me, I’m going to make audition tapes for 1 vs. 100 (PLEASE PUT THAT BACK ON THE AIR) and DoND. And I’ll send in an app for 5th Grader, too.
Oh, and I’ll make the pilgrimage out to Los Angeles again to see how Drew does Bob’s job on TPIR. That’ll probably be in the next couple of months.

Julia nailed it—I’m a lazy bastard so I don’t have a job, meaning I’m dependant on the government (I love being an american :P) If I win any more than $2,000, it gets yanked. So theoretically I could pass the $1,000 poll and walk, but wouldn’t that be a lameo piece of TV?
Oh well, maybe there’s hope should TPIR come out here this season. I was at the taping of Power of 10, the one that aired Wednesday (where the girl walked on the million and would’ve won) and asked Drew during the warmup if there were plans to do TPIR NY. He said there are no firm plans in place just yet, but the show has been “built to travel” and they really want to do a series of road shows from different cities this year.

GreatButler — So you’re saying that having your health insurance is better than having $1,000,000? .. Bro, unless I needed open-heart surgery and a new leg on a bi-weekly basis, I’m pretty sure a mil from that show would take care of me much better than some lousy gubment health program.. :D
As for Alex’s suggestion, I’ll add to that…
they reaaaaaly respond to hand-delivered gourmet cupcakeS! :[]

Hand-delivered gourmet cupcakes, eh? What flavor(s)? :D I applied earlier today. This will be the fourth game show I’ve tried out for. Maybe my answers were interesting enough to get me past the questionnaire portion. Maybe. Oh, and lobster…is it true you did the site pipsquack.com? I read about it here on buzzerblog and I LOVE playing the game! You might see me on there from time to time as Rick in Spanaway. :D

If I don’t make it on TPIR when I turn 18 I’ll try out for Power of 10.

Pipsquack is awesome. A lot like PYL but with extra twists.
That same guy also did a dice game called Farklepimp that was really addictive. Gave away pimp hats and a purple Cadillac to their top winners a few years ago or something like that.

Is in the same boat as Marc Power, being a Canadian, we are often excluded from being a contestant on any shows nowadays other than Jeopardy and TPIR.
However, I was able to be a contestant on the Canadian game show “Brain Battle” and took them for $900 out of the maximum $1,000 I could have won on the show. Yippee! LOL

Hey Alex,
FYI: I applied VIA online and just sent in my tape and told them that Buzzerblog sent me on the application… Hopefully I get a nice 21st birthday present and get to appear on the show!
Wish me luck.
