Play British Game Shows Online!

Sorry for the down time. We had unannounced maintenance, that of which I’m still trying to find out what was changed.

Regardless, thanks to reader Dan A. for giving us this terrific link. On WeDigTV, you can play many classic British game shows such as Countdown, Catch Phrase, Family Fortunes, and Blockbusters, and more will come later. You need to have a high-speed connections, though, as they use real clips of the show on the game. I have to say, I am extremely impressed, especially with Countdown. They are the nicest online adaptations of game shows I’ve seen. What do you all think?

If only American game shows could do versions like that, we’d be in heavan. But, alas, only crappy online versions by the official companies, or pretty nice versions by people like the Flashgames people or others, will have to do.

Blockbusters is the only one I’ve played so far, and loved it. The only thing is they give you five seconds to answer, but the list of choices is a little long, and I don’t like how the answer list does that “rise” effect when you hover over an answer. Just reduce the number of multiple-choices IMO.

great stuff. England is awlays doing great things with television and technology… even a look at one of their news broadcasts is technologically advanced its amazing

Thank you for posting this info. I’ve been looking for an online version of Countdown for months.

    Me LIKEY a LOT!

I do like the large number of multiple choices, I did get most questions right but there weren’t many I got through the choices I wouldn’t otherwise. In short, excellent.

Countdown’s a tiny bit awkward for the numbers, or maybe that was just me the first time. It’s still good. :)

I really like the WeDigTV website. If you’re in the US, can I register?

Those game are really cool, although I do have a few complaints:

    1) In blockbusters, you dont have enough time to see all the answers.

    2) In Family Fortunes, they dont show all the answers at the end of the round. Also, some of the answers are screwed up (I got a question “Name something discovered by cavemen that made life easier”, top 6 answers on the board. I get all of the top 5 strikeless, then strike out on 3 perfectly good answers. The opponents try to steal with “Condoms”, and its the last answer, they get the points and win the game. WTF?). Finally, if you give an answer thats not on the board in the faceoff, for some reason that counts if you get control, allowing you only 2 strikes.

    3) Catch phrase- I keep getting repeats, but thats a minor thing.

  • Marc says:

In Blockbusters, you can type in the first few letters of the answer to highlight that choice, then if that’s the answer you want to go with, press Enter. That’s what I do!

  • AP says:

I think they dont reveal answers so that incase a question set repeats we dont already know all solutions… but thats just my opinion, I dont have any basis for that

After playing all four games on this site, there really isn’t an international gap, when it comes to questions relating to Great Britain. On Blockbusters, I often amaze myself when you quickly scan the answers, pick the most logical one, and get it right! Countdown is a really challenging game, especially the numbers game–I did better when it was on the FlashGames Quickplay. Catch Phrase is a real blast from the past, as I vaguely remembered the Art James version from 1985. Family Fortunes, aka Family Feud, is pretty realistic when it comes to its surveys.

As for registering, I think it would be impossible for U.S. viewers to sign up, as their address system is different from ours. They use postcodes, as we use Zip(+4) Codes. It doesn’t stop me though from having fun nonetheless! If there were two games I would love to see, it would be Bruce’s Price is Right and Bruce’s Play Your Cards Right (Card Sharks, in U.S.).

and I see they’ve added something new …. see if you can get this conundrum right …

PS. just joking … don’t be offended :)

  • Chris says:

They actually now have the ITV classic “Bullseye” up as well, with Britian’s TPiR coming soon

  • Ashley says:

i dont know if its just my computer but for some reason, on the countdown game, it goes to the advert and after it comes back it starts to load the next round and then stops.

  • Brandon K says:

How do i find the web address to play blockbusters and other tv show games?
