“Only Connect” Episode One, Part 2

Continuing to showcase what has become a cult hit suddenly in the American game show scene, here’s the second part of Only Connect‘s first episode with game play you can actually participate with.  Again, it’s the best game show I’ve seen in ages, and apparently a lot of you agree with me.  Part 3 will come tomorrow, because on Sunday the Steelers are going to win the Super Bowl and I’ll be gone.

Actually for the plagues question, the fourth member could also have been wild beasts, because some translations give that instead of flies or beetles.

    Here’s a sequence you might like…

    KISS ME, KATE

    SOUTH PACIFIC

    GUYS AND DOLLS

    ?

  • Neville says:

Anton, I believe that’s “The King and I,” working off of Best Musical Tony Awards? Maybe? I think I’ve at least got the thread right, if not the fourth. Someone help me out here!

  • Anton Spivack says:

Yes, that is correct. Kiss me Kate won the first Tony Award for best musical in 1949, South Pacific won in 1950, Guys and Dolls in 1951, and The King and I won in 1952.

  • David B says:

Our verifiers advised us to accept: ‘Horseflies’, ‘Dog-flies’, ‘Insects’ or ‘Beetles’.

The best sequences maintain an air of mystery about them when you’ve seen the first clue. With the one above, you know it’s something to do with musicals or the theatre straight from the off.
