So I’ve been having about three straight weeks of car problems, but I’m finally back and able to post. But to have a horrible segue, it seems like NBC’s Deal or No Deal’s engine has stalled. Even the Million Dollar Mission is nothing exciting anymore. How do they remedy that? November sweeps, of course! In November, watch out for some $2,000,000 games; as well as, apparently, a $2,000,000 Mission. or at least a partial mission. It says in one of the storylines that another $2,000,000 case is added. Sounds like a $2,000,000 Mission to me. Fantastic.
However, the 200th episode looks to be interesting. People who want all the stalling out of Deal or No Deal will be happy to see that it’s going to be a Speed Deal episode, with four games being played. Each player will have only 20 seconds to decide Deal or No Deal. So it’s just going to be bigger money daytime episodes in primetime then basically? Whatever. As an added bonus, if the players collectively win $1,000,000 or more; the Banker will jump into a giant cake wheeled out. However, if the players don’t, Howie jumps in. This is coming up on November 3rd on NBC, the “We’ve run out of good ideas” network.

I think that the primetime deal need to take ideas from the syndicated version. The only things I would keep in the primetime version are the ladies and the amounts. I think removing the supporters would be the greatest thing. I personally want to see Deal finish one full contestant and then either finish fully on the 2nd contestant or at least get through 3/4 of there game. People know how to play Deal Or No Deal so at this point there really is no excuse why the game can’t move along. I think that the stalling is why so many people have stopped watching Deal. I think last friday it ranked a 4.1/7 which is very low even though it finished I think first in the hour. The problem is Deal is I think they think that many people don’t get the game. If you watch classic gameshows for example Jim Perry Card Sharks you would see it moved slow for a few months. After a few months then the pace picked up more and I think Deal should do this. Deal seems to move along better when it first began than it does now.

All they need to do to speed it up is edit down some of the time when the decision is being made.
Hey, it worked for Regis on Millionaire…

The Speed Deal episode does sound pretty good. With 4 games, I assume it’s a 2-hour episode?
Wonder if the cake gets eaten after the show? Of course, after the banker or Howie jump in, why would you want to?! :p
NOW, IF A MODEL JUMPED IN THERE…….(hehe)

I wish they would just play a normal Deal or no Deal game in primetime. No million dollar mission. None of the gimmicks. Just a straight game of Deal. If they can pull this off in Daytime, they can pull this off in primetime. DOND is one of NBC’s most popular shows, its fine just the way it was.
And most DOND fans would love to see a million dollar winner who wins the money the hard way, with a $1M board and earns it.

they should play the main version more. I think they only do the million dollar missions, deal wheel, winner takes all to keep the show fresh. they are doing too many million dollar missions though. I’d like to see an end game with double or half meaning that there are six cases. four of them say double and two say half. If you pick the say double then you double your winnings. If you pick one of the two cases that say half then you lose half of your winnings. I think more people would try it known that they would have a 66.7 percent chance of doubling there money. I would want to see someone win the million playing the normal way with only one one million dollar case.

I think stripping it back to something akin to the syndie version would help for sure. Go back to the original board (do they really need to do the Million Dollar Mission anymore, now that someone’s already won? I don’t think so!), drop the “supporters’ corner”.
That said, I wouldn’t mind seeing the “deal wheel” come back for a bit.
