I love me some Mark and am happy he's going to be hosting a game show again. (Not enough snarking opportunities on Antiques Roadshow, y'know.)

didnt Mark L learn ANYTHING from temptation Island???

Considering TI isn't the only Fox show Mark has hosted (both installments of Test the Nation (which wasn't too bad, IMO) and the dud Anything for Love come to mind)...probably not. ;)

As for the show itself, I'm reserving judgement.

uggg hot seat + fox = man didnt Mark L learn ANYTHING from temptation Island???

Agree he's the most underrated host since Jim Peck (TJW subbing and getting passed over for an over the hill bill cullen was as good as it got)

I LIKED on the cover actually...it was a cute concept and reminded me a little of headline chasers...but the celeb trash jokes got old FAST.

But this show looks to be going....TO WHERE MARK?!?!?!?!

I think that Russian Roulette needs to be in reruns at least on weekends on GSN. I think that lie detectors could be easy to beat but if a player has to keep his or her cool after answering questions this could get interesting. I don't think i could fully beat a lie detector and i'm not really sure i'd want to try although considering that the prize is $500,000 it would be tempting to try but i would be happy with $50,000

I see where you're coming from now. And to add to it, most (if not all) of both men's shows were pretty short-lived...

You're dropzone Russian Roulette was a great show (which i think GSN should still air FYI) but what I mean if you understand my analogy is he's not ALWAYS getting bad shows but often is. Like how Jim peck did have 1 or 2 good shows that I can think of immediately but had a lot of horrible shows like Hot Seat & 3's a crowd that killed his career.

OK, well, maybe he didn't get a "bad hand" for On The Cover...

Not all of his shows are bad, Mr. Power. (Russian Roulette comes to mind, doesn't it?)

But yes, this is beginning to sound like a bad show.

Wow. This came in so quietly it was hidden in an upmarket newspaper article about lie detection and I've not seen it mentioned anywhere else, but...

http://www.guardian.co.uk/science/2007/sep/18/sciencenews.crime

'In Colombia, the gameshow Nothing But the Truth offers $50,000 (£25,000) to any contestant who can truthfully answer 21 questions while wired up to a polygraph, the classic piece of interrogative kit you see in movies that measures physiological responses such as pulse, blood pressure, breathing and sweat on hands - the signs assumed to accompany deceit. The show has elicited dramatic confessions and exposed thieves, cheats and adulterers; the format is so popular that it is being exported to the US and the UK, where it will be broadcast by Sky this autumn.'

Nothing But The Truth is coming over here. Oh joy. How wonderful.

Wow. dropzone5 mentioned Mark getting a 'bad hand' for On The Cover... Nothing But The Truth will probably deal him a 7-2 offsuit, in poker terms.

And oh crap. This came in quietly: this format's gone to the UK. On Sky One, predictably; they picked up Fifth Grader (starts next Sunday with Noel 'No Deal' Edmonds, I may force myself to watch it once for review so you don't have to) and they're part of the same Murdoch empire, so it makes sense.

I was actually thinkning of "The Chair" when reading this, whcih was not a very good success. But I am very glad that FOX is trying something a little different. I want to watch it, but I dont completely trust lie detectors.

But the host: WOOHOO! I'm so glad that Mark L. Walburg is coming back! Much better than getting a B-list bad comedian to host. (i'm talking about u foxworthy! lol)
