News Flashes: Skinny Drew Carey, “Million Dollar Mind Game”, and “Liars”

Not a lot going on today but there are a few smaller news flashes buzzing around the web.  Let’s check out a few.

UPDATE: FIRST LOOK AT THE MILLION DOLLAR MIND GAME SET. CLICK HERE.

*The biggest today, without a doubt, is how freaking skinny Drew Carey got.  Reports are saying that Drew Carey has lost 70 pounds in just a few months.  He says parts of his diet include a cardio program and cutting off all carbs.  He also has been using an appetite suppressant.  Hey, whatever it takes.  I recently lost around 60-70 pounds also so I know exactly what he went through.  Congratulations to Drew.  He’s looking great and we can’t wait to see more of him on The Price is Right this Fall.

*We’ve got a lot of questions regarding ABC’s logic based Russian quiz show import Six Minds and how I’ve been referring to it recently.  I just want to be sure to alert people that, as far as I know, the show is now called Million Dollar Mind Game which is a much nicer title than the other.  Vernon Kay hosts the show which will debut at a later date.  The show’s done taping.  My sources said that the show looks impressive but it’s unbelievably hard.  However, I’m pretty sure we called that from the start.  There is apparently some people from the highly praised GSN quiz show Grand Slam on it so we’ll see what happens.

*Just a small alert that tonight is the season, and probably series, finale of GSN’s Late Night Liars.  I liked it a lot and I know there were others that did also, but it just never caught on.  If you’re a fan be sure to check it out tonight.  It’ll still be around in repeats for a bit so there’s time to catch up on all your favorite episodes.  I cannot recommend the Mickey Rourke episode enough.  That may be the single best half hour of television GSN has ever put together.

Yeah, well, that’s what I thought. I knew that Late Night Liars wouldn’t last that long.

  • Tataki says:

I quite like that set. Very different from a lot of today’s game show sets.
Sad that LNL probably won’t be back.

  • James E Parten says:

This you call a game show set? It looks like a restaurant in which I would not be caught dead, and whose food I could not afford anyway!

  • DeVares says:

It is sad that LNL may not be coming back. I caught an episode last week and it was the funniest thing to come out in a long time. Hopefully, if this is indeed the case, the creative team behind it would bring the characters back in some form or fashion, possibly either on Comedy Central or Adult Swim.

  • RM says:

I’m hoping its not coming back and if it is NO MORE PUPPETS!!! But without that part its a successful comedy game show.

    • Mike says:

      Lemme get this right…

If you get rid of the humor, it’s a successful comedy game show.

You hope it doesn’t come back, but yet you claim it could be a successful show without that comedy.

Contradict yourself a bit too much?

  • djcchs2004 says:

When we see him slim for the new season coming up, it would be like one episode when Bob stop dye his hair.

  • Gene says:

I liked LNL it was a little cute show i thought the set was very nice i hope they reuse it for something else.

Drew Carey looks really good i wish i could lose 70 pounds

Million Dollar Mind Game/Six minds i don’t think that show will last long Vernon Kay is annoying on family fortunes.

  • Nick says:

Wow! Drew Carey really did get skinny! Good job Drew.

  • Nick says:

djcchs2004, yeah I could see that. That’s a good comparison. When Bob’s hair went white, it was like BAM! and we did not expect that.

  • Kevin $ says:

I remember the backstage video when Rat Race premiered and I noticed his weight loss then, so this is amazing! Congrats! :D

  • Bobby says:

Drew getting healthier, Nicole and Connor love that, and I wonder if that means we’ll see old-school Price where contestants chase Drew around!

  • MrQuiz says:

I only saw LNL once. I’ll put my opinion very simply: great concept…so-so execution (although Larry Miller did a pretty decent job as emcee, IMO).

However, it deserves to come back…on Comedy Central, or TBS

  • MrGameShow says:

Alex – don’t you mean you are looking forward to seeing LESS of Drew? :D

  • K.C. says:

So I’m the only one who noticed how much Drew looks like Bill Cullen now?

    • Nicholas Todor says:

I thought he looked like Senor Barker, and one of my friends thought he looked like Roger Dobkowitz. YMMV.
