News Flashes: “Identity Crisis” and “Lingo” Spoiler, and “The Cube” Special
It’s been a very busy day for us today. Here are some quick news stories to hold you over.
*Metal Flowers Media is looking for people to do a run through for a CBS game show. The game is called Identity Crisis and it looks to be based on celebrity trivia. We saw postings for it some time ago but didn’t think much of it. They’re now at the run through stage. These will take place in Los Angeles. You just need a partner. You’ll go to the offices and play in front of CBS executives, possibly meet a celebrity, and you’ll each earn $50. Not that bad. Click here to get involved.
* Lingo debuted last night. Still no word on the ratings; however, reception is what I figured. Half like it and half don’t. But the dislike of the clues is nearly unanimous except for a few outliers. The show would be infinitely better if they ditched them next season. The debut episode was also a mile better than the screener copy. Why did they send such a poor episode to the press to drum up excitement? That’s one you’ll want to forget. Once they iron out the kinks it’s a fun show. Anyway, GSN’s Facebook page uploaded a slight spoiler as to something that may be happening this week on Bonus Lingo.
It would have been nice if they put this much money and effort behind 1 VS 100.
*The Cube returns for a special episode this Saturday at a later time of 8:40PM on ITV. It’s a special McFly celebrity edition and given everything we’ve heard, it looks to be one you won’t want to miss.

Is that the theme today for game shows…show that there is going to be a big winner for people to watch?
i might watch but they need to add more words to the rounds and my big problem even though team 2 couldnt won they didnt even give them a chance at the final word which could of net them all together $1300…thats my big pet peave
I suspect that we might see Game 7 attempted on The Cube this week-may or may not be won, but having the show in a special Saturday night slot makes it very likely..
…You can see the w-h-i-l-e all turn green in the preview. Seems a bit more spoiler-ific than normal.
I really wish GSN brought 1 vs. 100 back with a top prize of $100,000. I think GSN wants to, but they might be having troubles with three things. 1. Finding 100 mob members. 2. Finding a new host. 3. Constructing a new or different set.
One way that GSN can save money in a newer version compared to the one with Carrie Ann Inaba…With Carrie Ann Inaba, GSN probably had to pay her a lot of money for each show. She is currently the judge on one of the biggest shows on T.V. right now. A name that has been going around for hosting 1 vs. 100 is Mark McGrath. He is literally not doing anything. GSN would only have to pay him probably HALF of what they paid Carrie Ann Inaba.
Is this new CBS game show for daytime or primetime? With the Talk and LMAD renewed, there’s really no spot on CBS daytime for it for a while. Unless CBS decides to ax Bold and Beautiful, Young and Restless, or G-d forbid, TPIR.
“It would have been nice if they put this much money and effort behind 1 VS 100.”
I agree with you completely Alex. GSN took a show from its past, which has always worked with a $5,000 top prize (aside from the occasional progressive jackpots), and decided that in order to get more viewers, they should up the prize to $100,000. But it just doesn’t seem right. Plus, it seems far too easy to guess 5 words in 90 seconds to win that $100,000 top prize.
Now take, if you will, 1 VS 100, that used to have a $1,000,000 top prize, which GSN revived and reduced to $50,000 (aside from the 5 episodes that had a $100,000 top prize).
So 1 VS 100 (which always worked with a high prize amount) was revived with a very low prize amount. And Lingo (which always worked with a low prize amount) was revived with a very high prize amount.
It almost seems like GSN is desperate to give away $100,000 of its own money, since it couldn’t do it on 1 VS 100. So they decided to make it incredibly easy to win the $100,000 on Lingo so they could have this huge press release on how “The World Needs More Winners”, and then reference the winners of the $100,000 on Lingo.
Also, the promos for GSN’s revived 1 VS 100 were horrible.
And I have to agree with Al above. It seems like networks think that showing promos of someone winning Big Money on an upcoming episode will make it more likely that more people will tune in and watch that episode. Never mind the fact that you’re just ruining the suspense that is supposed to build up throughout an entire episode.
Yes, never mind the suspense. It gets new people watching. That’s the point. Otherwise, you just get the same people who watch your show already, more or less.
Granted, but the networks & cyndicated programs are spoon feeding the audience with these stupid spoilers killing the drama. I cant stand it.
Jeopardy!, Pyramid & a few other shows are able to create natural drama without the fluff & yet now we cant live without the dam spoiler alert. Thanks a lot Deal or no deal & those who followed!
I think promos like this should be more accurately described as “this week at 8:57pm/7:57 central.”
I know what the spoiler is bill dropped it in a magazine interview i read someone claimed the 100k prize coming up.
That might possibly be the least tension-filled thing I’ve ever seen. At least Lingo’s a good play-along show.
And I mean that it was lacking in tension due to knowing which pair would win, that they would make it to the $100,000 word, and that they would solve it. Utterly stupid to put out the dumb spoilers.
Yea, no real point in watching anything other than the last minute since you already know who won.
