News Flashes: “1 VS 100″, iPad Apps, and “Family Feud”
Nothing big yet so here are some early morning news flashes for you. We’ll have an interview with Who Wants to be a Millionaire host Meredith Vieira later so stay tuned.
*If you didn’t catch our blurb in our Millionaire FAQ, veteran game show producer Jay Wolpert helped out with the new format some. He’s a former Price is Right producer, he made the quiz show Double Dare (not the kids version), and looking at his Wikipedia page he really digs pirates, so there we go.
*As we broke some time ago, 1 VS 100 has been picked up by GSN for a new series of episodes. If you follow our Facebook page then you got some other updates on it. One thing we were told, which has now been confirmed, is that it’s apparently going to be a daily show and 40 episodes tape in October, so it’ll either be a late 2010 or early 2011 debut. Bob Saget will not be returning to host the show and an offer has been placed to someone else who has had some game and reality show experience. This guy isn’t doing much else so we can’t imagine him turning it down unless he would rather do more random Tosh.0 cameos.
*A few new game show apps are out for the Apple products. Finally people are getting into making some for the iPad. A Family Feud high definition iPad app was released a bit ago and plays like the iPhone and computer game from Ludia, just with updated graphics for the iPad. Cash Cab was also released for the iPad and plays like the “After Dark” edition of the show. This one is themed for the special Las Vegas episodes. It’s priced at $4.99 which is a bit much for something like this so I can’t fully recommend it.
I can, however, recommend the brand new Wheel of Fortune HD app just released. The graphics have been massively increased from the relatively “eh” iPhone versions. It also features all of the features from the current version, including the Free Play wedge, and lets you customize your own player’s look. The game looks great and it’s $4.99 right now. There are a lot of extra puzzle and avatar packs to download for $0.99 a piece.
*@Family_Feud posted yet another clip of Steve Harvey having some fun with the contestants. Take a look. All the clips are getting me more and more excited for the new season starting September 13th.

Jay Wolpert finally back in the game show business? Yes.
All we need now is a revival of Whew and our lives will be complete. The concept was good but it was strained a lot by 70′s era technology…
I totally agree, a Whew revival is definitely needed. With all the clips and episodes that are on YouTube I don’t see a reason why this show should not get a revival!!!!!!
Not very optimistic about 1 VS. 100, but I’m greatly looking forward to Steve Harvey on Feud. It seems like he might be the best host the show’s ever had.
A revival of Whew! would be awesome; by the way, http://www.tvpmm.com has launched an effort to obtain archival music and the like from the show (evidently, Alan Thicke composed the theme and has given permission).
Let me guess who the new host of 1 vs. 100 will be….Jeff Probst? Tom Bergeron? John O’Hurley? Mark L. Walberg? They are all good candidates.
I will tell you now with Jay Wolpert helping out with Millionaire, The Hub, Steve Harvey hosting the Feud, 2010 is a rather exciting year for game shows!
Couldn’t pull Bergeron away from DWTS, O’Hurley & MLW sound like good calls, Probst may be filming another round of Survivor…BUT FOR GODSAKE, ANYONE BUT ROSSI MORREALE (you know how he was ahlf the problem with Temptation 2007 – the game was the other half)!
Crap!
I forgot that Mark L. Walberg is busy hosting Get up and Dance for CMT. Unless it was canned. I know he’d be perfect for 1 vs. 100.
Oh, that’s right.. TT_TT
Well, I honestly can’t see Your Chance to Dance lasting that long, so in the event it does get dropped hopefully GSN will make the right decision.
I made a Gauntlet of Villians reference while watching TPIR earlier. Then realized I’d be the only person in the room that got it….*sigh*
I would probably have a good guess of who the 1v100 offer was for if I knew what Tosh.O was!
The clips make me excited for Feud, but still bummed by this “let’s through out the question” deal. Seems it’s not as efficent in my eyes.
fyi, according to this CL ad http://losangeles.craigslist.org/lac/tfr/1941149853.html the 1 vs 100 top prize is 50k
